Marvel Rivals Has Gone Gold

About a week before launch, NetEase’s Marvel Rivals has gone gold. The free-to-play hero shooter will be available for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC on December 6th, and it’s currently the sixth most wish-listed game on Steam.

Marvel Rivals will launch with 33 heroes and eight maps, including locations like the Intergalactic Empire of Wakanda and Klyntar (a Symbiote planet). The premise revolves around present and future versions of Doctor Doom coming into conflict, which ripples throughout dimensions. As a result, alternate versions of established heroes and villains enter the fray, sometimes on the same team with uneasy alliances.

Though it’s similar to Overwatch 2, specifically with game modes and the division of roles, Marvel Rivals offers other features like environmental destruction and Team-Up Attacks. It will still follow the seasonal approach, with Season 0: Dooms’ Rise available for a month. Season 1 kicks off in January 2025 with new content. Check out our feature here for more details.
