It seems like Mass Effect 3’s marketing campaign is doing a wonderful job in getting all those pre-orders for EA, as the game has surpassed EA’s expectations and is tracking higher than Mass Effect 2 at this stage.
EA outlined its future plans to capture the mainstream audience and said that they’ve been successful so far.
“TV, cinema, online, print and outdoor activity will help capture the mainstream audience,” revealed EA product manager Will Graham to MCV.
“For the core Mass Effect fan, we’ve been building on the immersive nature of the game with a host of trailers, social media activity and fan site activation.
“Currently our pre-orders have broken the targets set, we are well ahead of where we were at the same point with Mass Effect 2 and we have all of the platforms aligned for launch, which is a first for the Mass Effect franchise.
“Mass Effect 3 follows on from a 96 Metacritic-rated game and everything suggests that the third iteration in the franchise is going to have the same, if not better, quality.”
Considering there is a PS3 version this time, this was expected. It remains to be seen if the overall sales end up being a lot higher than Mass Effect 2. The series has sold 7 million copies so far.
