Looks like Konami is pretty damn serious about Metal Gear Online, the online multiplayer component of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. Today, they announced that, in association with ESL, they are launching the Metal Gear Online Global Championship starting in December, giving fans of the multiplayer stealth action shooter a chance to compete for cash prizes.
Players of Metal Gear Online’s competitive multiplayer mode will now have the opportunity to showcase their sneaking skills within the Metal Gear Online community. The league will hold weekly online tournaments worldwide starting December 1 through to February 29, 2016, with competitions being held in four regions- North America, Latin America, Europe and Asia/Australia.
The total cash pool for this championship is $12,000, with $1,000 being rewarded per region per month. In addition, participants in the league will be able to earn points to build their professional rank to become the next legendary soldier.
Are you going to be trying your hand at this?
