Update 2: A post on the official PlayStation blog claims that it is indeed 1080p/60fps. This was tweeted by Kojima’s personal assistant and re-tweeted by the man himself. This about confirms it.
Update: A Konami representative got back to us and he stated that he was unaware of any mention of the resolution or frame rate of the game in any of the demo sessions.
Original Story:
Konami recently showcased a 30 minute long gameplay demo of the upcoming Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain at this week’s E3. Select media were invited and GamingBolt was fortunate enough to be a part of behind the closed doors demonstration of the game.
A Reddit user who attended the demonstration [and has provided proof as well] has revealed that the game ran at 1080p and 60fps on the PlayStation 4. The demonstration session that GamingBolt attended had no talks about resolution or frame rate as the the executives were solely focused on revealing gameplay elements and Mother Base building details. But again, Konami obviously had more than one session, so it’s very much possible that the Redditor attended at a different time slot where they might have revealed the frame rate and resolution.
As usual, this piece of information must be taken with a grain of salt, but given that Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes ran at 1080p/60fps on the PlayStation 4, the same might hold true in the case of The Phantom Pain. We have emailed Konami and will update this article as soon as we hear from them.
Stay tuned for our full impressions of the demo. For more on Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain check out our hub page here.
