Kojima Productions’ Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain is confirmed to be running at 1080p resolution on PS4 and 900p resolution on Xbox One. Both versions run at 60 frames per second.
The Xbox 360 and PS3 versions meanwhile run at an upscaled 720p resolution at 30 frames per second. The PC version will be capable of running at up to 4K resolutions and 60 frames per second depending on one’s hardware.
The bump in resolution for the Xbox One version is interesting since Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes ran at 720p resolution. This could be attributed to increased optimization of the Xbox One hardware over time. Regardless, the PS4 version seems to still be the definitive console version for The Phantom Pain.
Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain is out on September 1st for Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS3, PS4 and PC. Stay tuned for more updates on the game in the coming weeks and let us know what you think of the resolutions and frame settings for the different versions in the comments.
