Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain Seemingly Far Off From Release, VO Recording Still On-Going

Could still be out next year.

Kojima Productions’ Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain is shaping up to be the best game in the series. A subsequent 30 minute gameplay video showcased just how far along the game was and how good it was looking. But when will it come out? It may be a while.

Director Hideo Kojima recently tweeted about having a VO session that lasted the entire day. Voice recording is usually one of the longest running production processes in gaming, especially for a cinematic game like Metal Gear Solid 5. Not only does Kojima have to manage Japanese VO acting but also English voice actors, which effectively means double the work. The fact that it’s still going on means we’re still a ways off from release.

That doesn’t mean regular development isn’t on-going so it’s likely it does come out some time next year for PS4, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PS3. Thoughts? Let us know below.

In the mean time check out 30 minutes of absolutely amazing The Phantom Pain gameplay footage here.
