Announced back in 2020, developer The Outsiders and publisher Funcom’s upcoming rhythmic demon-slaying first person shooter Metal: Hellsinger has looked like a promising project in all that has been shown of it so far, but with the year drawing to a close, many have been wondering whether the game will be able to hit its previously announced 2021 launch window. Unsurprisingly, it won’t.
Funcom, who acquired The Outsiders earlier this year, recently announced that Metal: Hellsinger has now been pushed back to an undetermined date some time in 2022. In an announcement post on its website, the publisher states that the decision has been made in order to “meet the high expectations for the game”. There’s no word yet exactly when in 2022 the game will launch.
Additionally, while Metal: Hellsinger was initially announced as a cross-gen title, it seems Funcom and The Outsiders have dropped those plans, with the PS4 and Xbox One versions of the shooter being cancelled. Whenever the game does launch, then, it will be available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
