Developer Vertigo Games and Deep Silver have announced new game in the Metro franchise. Titled Metro Awakening, the game is being developed for PlayStation VR2, Quest 2, Quest 3, and PC VR, and is slated for release some time in 2024. Check out the trailer below.
The studio has been with the support of Deep Silver on Metro Awakening, which will be a prequel story set before the events of the first game in the franchise—Metro 2033. As revealed in its State of Play announcement trailer, the game is set to make use of PlayStation VR2’s various features to deliver an immersive first-person experience. It will also make use of the PS VR2’s adaptive triggers to provide feedback for its intense combat.
Metro Awakening puts players in the shoes of Serdar—a doctor that is looking for his wife in the metro tunnels of Moscow. The game is set in the year 2028, and will feature many of the events that lead to Serdar’s spiritual awakening.
When it comes to gameplay, Metro Awakening will feature a blend of survival, stealth and combat. Players will get the experience of swapping out their filters to avoid death by radiation, and frantically charge their headlamp to be able to see in the dark.
