The critically acclaimed Microsoft Flight Simulator was set to receive big update this month that would add the United Kingdom and Ireland as new destinations. Developer Asobo Studio announced a slight delay for the World Update, noting that it would arrive one week later than planned. However, it believes that the amount of new content should be worth it.
“Unfortunately, these new cities are causing a slight delay… it’s a new process and data source for us and the tools have to be updated for these cities to integrate seamlessly into the sim,” said the developer in a new blog post. It noted that the Bing Maps team and Bluesky, its data provider, have been lending a hand with the process.
As for the content, Asobo confirmed that there would be more than 70 points of interest, five airports, new aerials and a new DEM. Two landing challenges and five brand-new photogrammetry cities are also to be expected. Overall, there’s quite a bit to look forward to beyond exploring cities like London.
Microsoft Flight Simulator is currently available for PC and will arrive for Xbox Series X/S this Summer. An Xbox One release is also still on the cards as well.
