Until now, the massively successful Minecraft has exclusively seen release on Microsoft- exclusive products in the console realm. As of today, however, Markus ‘Notch’ Persson, the creator of Minecraft, and Adam Boyes of Sony have both announced via twitter that Minecraft will now see release across PS3, PS4, and PS Vita.
Minecraft was released for the Xbox 360 in 2012, and was announced for the Xbox One already earlier this year. According to developers, 4J Studios, Minecraft has sold over eight million copies for Xbox 360, which confirms that there indeed is a huge console fan base for Minecraft.
When Minecraft was announced for the Xbox One, it was reported that the game would feature bigger worlds and more multiplayer capability. It is safe to assume that these updates are planned for the PS4 release as well.
The next gen versions of Minecraft will debut along with their respective console releases. As of now, we are uncertain as to whether or not the PS3 and PS Vita versions will release before that time.
