For all the rumours surrounding From Software’s Dark Souls 2, there’s an assumption that the game will release on next gen consoles at some point. This isn’t really the case right now, according to co-director Yui Tanimura.
Speaking to EDGE, he stated that, “We have not put any thought into this yet, so I unfortunately can’t answer at this point.” Which essentially means that they’re focused on the current-gen version right now and will think about a next gen version when that’s out the door. So for now, disavow all rumours of Dark Soul 2 on the PS4 or Xbox One.
Tanimura also spoke at length about the differences between the first and second game, given how the predecessor’s original director is not at the helm. Though Dark Souls 2 will retain the same difficulty, feel and combat, Tanimura did say that there would be “some differences between Dark Souls I and II, so I think the players can also look forward to new elements when they pick up the game.”
Dark Souls 2 is out for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC on March 11th in North America and March 14th in Europe.
