Octopath Traveler 2 was among the biggest new games to be announced as part of the recent Nintendo Direct presentation, and as per details that Square Enix has revealed on the RPG since then, it seems like it’s going to make noticeable changes from its predecessor over a number of areas, from characters and the world to new combat mechanics and more. One area where the sequel is stick to its guns, however, is the music.
Shortly after the game’s announcement, Japanese composer Yasunori Nishiki took to Twitter to reveal that he is composing Octopath Traveler 2’s soundtrack. Nishiki was, of course, also the man in charge of the music for the original Octopath Traveler, as well as the mobile spinoff, Octopath Traveler: Champions of the Continent. He has also been involved in the music for a number of other major titles over the years, including the likes of Gravity Rush 2, Kingdom Hearts 3, Final Fantasy 7 Remake, and more.
Octopath Traveler’s music was easily among the game’s biggest highlights, so fans will be pleased to know that its sequel is following in its footsteps.
Octopath Traveler 2 launches on February 24, 2023 for PS5, PS4, Nintendo Switch, and PC. Square Enix recently announced that the original game’s worldwide shipments and digital sales have now exceeded 3 million units.
