Overwatch 2 – Kiriko’s Origin Story and Abilities Detailed in New Videos

Available when the shooter launches on October 4th, Kiriko is unlocked at tier 55 of the Season 1 Battle Pass or by purchasing the Premium Pass.

Last week, Blizzard Entertainment officially revealed Kiriko, the latest hero to join Overwatch 2. A new video is available, which provides more background on the Support. Raised by her grandmother to commune with the fox spirit and trained by her mother for combat, Kiriko’s story is one of balance between the two.

This can be seen in her overall play style, described as a Battle Healer. Lead concept artist Qiu Fang and associate narrative designer Kyungseo Min discuss Kiriko’s abilities in a new Developer Update, showcasing how each works. Healing Ofuda sends out paper talismans that target and heal allies, though their travel speed can be slow. Protection Suzu renders allies invulnerable and cleanses debuffs but has a long cooldown.

Swift Step can teleport to allies across the map (even through walls), and Kitsune Rush, her Ultimate, buffs movement speed, reduces cooldowns and more when the team walks down its path. Kiriko is also capable of dealing extensive damage thanks to her throwing kunai.

Overwatch 2 launches on October 4th for Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5, PC, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. Kiriko is available in the Season 1 Battle Pass, unlocked by reaching Tier 55 or purchasing the Premium Pass. Overwatch 1 players can also unlock her immediately with the Founder’s Pack.
