Blizzard Entertainment’s Overwatch will be receiving a much-requested quality of life change in the near future. According to director Jeff Kaplan in the latest developer update (filmed from home due to the current COVID-19 pandemic), it will now be possible to bind more specific commands to the communication wheel. You’ll now be able to tell your teammates to fall back, countdown to an attack or simply say “Sorry.”
To that effect, the team has recorded a whole bunch of new voicelines for each character to facilitate this change. The feature is currently available to test on PTR servers for PC. Kaplan also announced an upcoming change to the Competitive match queue. If you queue into a game and someone leaves, thus canceling the match, matchmaking will attempt to find you a new match as quickly as possible.
This priority queuing won’t always be instantaneous but it should provide some relief to players suffering from long queues. Expect both these changes to hit live servers in the coming weeks. In the meantime, Overwatch has received its 32nd hero, Echo, Damage dealer that will be the last hero until the sequel launches.
