Blizzard Entertainment dropped a new developer update for Overwatch with director Jeff Kaplan, offering some updates on future content. The most obvious is Summer Games, a yearly seasonal event which usually brings Lucioball. This year is going to be different though – for one, the event will start earlier than usual.
No date was provided but look for it to start very soon. More importantly, the event will feature three weekly challenges for Epic Skins. These will be akin to challenges for D.Va, Ana and Baptiste that would net players guaranteed cosmetics upon completion. It’s a welcome change to grinding loot boxes.
Kaplan also teased Hero 31 and confirmed that “he” was male. The hero will be coming a “little bit later” than players are used to, but will still arrive “soon enough”. Other quality of life improvements discussed include a new anti-cheat system which will shut down Competitive matches if cheats are detected (at no SR loss for any player).
