Phil Spencer Says Xbox Still Committed To Strong Single Player Experiences

The Xbox head promises single player isn't dead on the platform.

The world is changing fast, and gaming is no exception. While the “death” of single player content has been something people have been talking about for the better part of a decade, there’s renewed fear as things like streaming and subscription services, on paper, favor more ongoing multiplayer content over single player experiences. Microsoft is going in hot on both of those fronts, but the head of the Xbox division says they still plan to continue delivering strong single player experiences.

On his official Twitter, Spencer was asked whether or not more single player games were coming. Spencer answered directly that yes, more single player focused titles were in the works, and that the Xbox Games Studios are committed to those types of games as well as anything else.

Microsoft has acquired large number of studios over the last year, so it’s not outside the realm of possibility that at least one of those studios will be on single player games. In theory, there should be a little something for everyone, so let’s hope in practice that that’s what happens.
