PlayStation recently acquired the Liverpool-based Firesprite, which has now made an acquisition of its own. Firesprite has now acquired the Manchester-based Fabrik Games, which has increased the total headcount of the studio up to 265.
Fabrik Games collaborated with Firesprite on The Persistence, and has also worked on its original IPs, such as Filthy Lucre and The Lost Bear. It’s being speculated that the acquisition was in the pipeline before Sony acquired Firesprite, and that this was part of the reason Sony acquired the studio in the first place.
“They are a team of passionate and committed developers, led by industry veterans who have worked on many AAA franchises. We’re looking forward to bolstering our creative talent as we continue on our journey to offer truly unique experiences for PlayStation fans,” Firesprite boss said.
With Fabrik Games joining forces with Firesprite Studios, the studio has now grown to become one of the biggest studios in UK. PlayStation has been actively expanding its horizons lately, with acquisitions of Housemarque and Nixxes, alongside partnerships with studios such as Deviation Games and Jade Raymond’s Haven Studios.
