While smaller games have faced well publicized issues with having cross-platform play enabled in their games on the PS4, there have been few major titles, including the likes of Fortnite and Rocket League, that have managed to get it done, which has opened up the possibility (in theory, at least) for others to follow suit.
Being one of the most actively played and supported multiplayer shooters on the market, it goes without saying that questions regarding cross-play in Rainbow Six Siege would be frequently asked- and for those of who you’re hoping that that gets enabled, there might be some hope. Recently, while speaking with Stevivor, Rainbow Six Siege’s Creative Director Xavier Marquis said that though PS4-Xbox One cross-play in the game isn’t something Ubisoft is currently working on, it is something they’re thinking about.
“I’m thinking about it,” he said. “I’m really happy because I’m now seeing signs from consoles makers to accept it, and for it to be okay to do cross-play.”
“Today we are not really working on it,” he added. “We are thinking about it, but nothing is planned.”
Meanwhile, there are other high profile titles that might eventually enable cross-play as well. For instance, not too long ago, the developers of free to play battle royale title Apex Legends also talked about the possibility- read more on that through here.
