Red Dead Redemption 2 Worldwide Shipments Top 29 Million Copies, GTA 5 At 120 Million

Rockstar's open world behemoths refuse to slow down.

Rockstar Games recently suffered a major blow, with their co-founder and one of their most important creative leaders, Dan Houser, leaving the company in March. But though the future remains foggy for now, in the here and now, megaton releases that sell well perennially are, unsurprisingly, still enjoying strong sales.

During their recent quarterly financial meeting, Rockstar’s parent company Take-Two announced that Red Dead Redemption 2 has now shipped 29 million units worldwide, with sales enjoying boost following its PC release. Meanwhile, Grand Theft Auto 5 – better known as the game just won’t quit – has now shipped over 120 million units worldwide. At last count the figures for these two games stood at 26.5 million and 115 million respectively.

During their financial briefing, Take-Two Interactive also shared updated shipment numbers on Borderlands 3 – which is now nearing 8 million unit shipped – and The Outer Worlds – which is performing above expectations, having shipped over 2 million units since launch. Meanwhile, they also shared an update on BioShock 4’s development- just don’t expect it to be out anytime soon.
