After a very long hiatus, the Borderlands series returned with its third mainline entry late last year. The cel-shaded, meme-crazy series is one of the originals of the current looter shooter craze, and the sales for the newest title sure show that sometimes the originals stay beloved.

In their latest financial result call, Take-Two Interactive said Borderlands 3 sold in unit amount was almost at a staggering 8 million units. That puts it pretty much on track with previous entries, if not possibly tracking a little ahead. The game has seen continued support after release to keep people coming back, too, so Borderlands 3 will undoubtedly continue selling. Also worth noting the game hasn’t even seen a PC release outside the Epic Games Store version, so there’s a lot of potential there once the game can expand to other storefronts.

Borderlands 3 is available now for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Stadia, and PC. There’s also rumors of a sequel to Tales of the Borderlands floating around out there, which you can read about through here.
