Replaced Delayed to 2023

The ongoing conflict in Ukraine has resulted in development being affected. Part of the team has relocated with work having "only recently restarted."

Sad Cat Studios’ sci-fi retro-futuristic platformer Replaced has been delayed from 2022 to 2023. In a recent statement on Twitter, it revealed that the ongoing Russian invasion of Ukraine has impacted development.

“The Belarusian based studio working on the game, Sad Cat Studios, has a team of talented developers from Belarus and Ukraine. Unfortunately, the continued war in Ukraine has heavily impacted the development of Replaced, as most of the team resides in the neighboring regions.

“The priority for Sad Cat was for the safety of the team and their families. As a result, part of the team has now relocated and work has only recently restarted on Replaced.” The team, along with publisher Coatsink, has thus decided to postpone the game so that it can be “in the best state it can possibly be.”

“We are continuing to work hard to match the quality you’ve come to expect from the trailer, but are prioritizing both the physical and mental health of the developers by not forcing the original deadlines that have been unexpectedly impacted.” It then thanked everyone for their continued patience before ending with the ominous statement, “It won’t be long before you can Ent3r%t*he{V01d……..”

Replaced isn’t the only title that’s been impacted by the war. Frogwares’ Sherlock Holmes: Chapter One has been delayed indefinitely for Xbox One due to the same. It also announced new title, Project Palianystia, which will be more streamlined compared to its next open-world title.

Then there’s GSC Game World, whose development on S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Shadow of Chornobyl was impacted. It reportedly shifted part of its team to the Czech Republic and has officially resumed development.

Replaced is currently slated for Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One and PC along with releasing for Game Pass. Stay tuned for more updates on it in the coming months.
