Capcom recently updated its list of Platinum sellers, which includes games that have sold over one million units in their lifespan, to reflect sales as of December 31st 2019. Though Monster Hunter World tops the all-time list at 14.9 million units sold, it’s interesting to see how the 2019 releases fared. Resident Evil 2, for instance, sold 5.8 million units last year. Holiday sales seem to have driven an additional 800,000 or so copies sold since it was revealed to have crossed 5 million sales on December 4th 2019.
Devil May Cry 5 also reached a pretty strong milestone, selling 3.1 million units and becoming the most successful title in the series. Devil May Cry 4, by comparison, has sold 3 million units, but has been available since 2008. To cross that number in less than a year is good news indeed.
Other updated sales figures include Street Fighter 5 at 4.1 million units sold and Resident Evil 7 at 7 million units sold. Monster Hunter World: Iceborne is listed as selling 3.2 million units in 2019 but that doesn’t account for sales of the PC version which launched this past January. Worldwide shipments for the expansions were last reported as 4.5 million units.
