It’s been quite the few weeks for fans of the legendary Resident Evil horror series. We’ve had some wild rumors pop up about the next mainline title in the franchise that included castles and werewolves (and then had those same rumors cast into doubt). Of course, we’re also counting down the days until the remake of Resident Evil 3, with its expanded version of the original game, will hit. But it seems there could be a taste of something else coming soon with a new playtest event.
As announced via the Resident Evil Ambassadors program, there will be another playtest across four separate cities: Tokyo, New York, Los Angeles, and Frankfurt. The first is in Tokyo, which is set to begin on February 29th. The other cities will run throughout the month of March. You will need to be over 18 and part of the Ambassadors club to register.
In the past, these exclusive events have come right before a new Resident Evil project was unveiled. There was one preceding both Resident Evil 3 and Resident Evil Resistance announcements (before they were known to be part of the same package). It seems rather unlikely that a new title will be shown with Resident Evil 3 scheduled to come in April, but the franchise is probably the healthiest its been in years, so it’s not too out there either. We’ll keep you updated.
