Resident Evil Requiem Clip Showcases the Return of Classic Survival Horror Zombies

Some footage from NHK's recently aired documentary on the series showcases Grace shooting at and narrowly evading zombies.

As we count down the minutes, hours and days before Resident Evil Requiem’s release, Japanese broadcasting company NHK recently aired a documentary on the series, “Legendary Games Chronicle: Biohazard.” Though a subtitled version has yet to go live, some footage is available online courtesy of @xiaogeyi on Twitter, showcasing a section with classic zombies.

You know the kind – slow, shambling, but extremely deadly up close. Scoring a headshot isn’t enough to take one down, and after missing a few shots, it takes a bit out of protagonist Grace Ashcroft. Another zombie slowly moves into frame, which is when she decides to book it up the stairs.

There’s not too much to see, though the low ammo count reinforces how this is more of a return to the classic survival horror formula. While it’s in third-person, players can swap to first-person at any time.

Resident Evil Requiem launches on February 27th, 2026, for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2. It’s expected to receive deeper dive early next year, which should, among other things, hopefully confirm the long-rumored presence of Leon S. Kennedy.
