Thanks to a recent interview that Capcom had with Famitsu, some new details for Resident Evil Village have emerged. These have been translated by Alex Aniel on Twitter and offers some intriguing new details. For instance, how did Ethan end up in the village in the first place? As it turns out, Chris brought him to the mountain region, though to what end is unknown.
From there, Ethan will walk until reaching the village itself (which mirrors the fable that Mia narrated throughout the trailers). A photo of the villagers holding hands in a circle with “dangerous creatures” protecting them is also seen, which seems to be a cult of sorts. Also, the strange woman with a skull staff seems to play a role separate from the trench coat-wearing figure (who many feel to be a merchant). But once again, what that is remains to be seen.
Producers Tsuyoshi Kanda and Pete Fabiano also provided some information, noting that the trench coat figure will be someone that Ethan’s life will depend on. It also seems that the villagers can recite prayers to “protect themselves” and that the creatures, while not speaking a language, can act as a pack and use weapons. Which sounds a lot like werewolves to us.
Resident Evil Village is out in 2021 for Xbox Series X/S, PS5 and PC. Capcom is also looking into PS4 and Xbox One ports but didn’t commit to the same. Stay tuned for more details in the meantime.
