Marvelous’ Switch-exclusive life sim RPG Rune Factory 5 isn’t out in the West until later this year, but the game launched in Japan last week, and as you’d expect, enjoyed solid sales. Famitsu has released its newest weekly data for Japanese software and hardware sales, and Rune Factory 5 topped the software charts with over 102,000 units sold. Meanwhile, fellow Switch exclusive Miitopia debuted in second place, selling over 72,000 units.
Monster Hunter Rise is still sticking around the top end of the charts, coming in at third place with over 26,000 units sold, while fellow Capcom megaton Resident Evil Village is in fifth place with over 16,000 units sold throughout the week. Between the two in fourth place is Ring Fit Adventure, selling over 18,000 copies.
Meanwhile, on the hardware front, it’s not surprising at all to see the Switch dominating proceedings again. It was the highest selling console of the week with nearly 100,000 units sold, while the PS5 trailed behind in second place by a considerable margin, selling over 16,000 units.
