For nearly three years, leaks and rumours have relentlessly insisted that Konami is at work on a full-fledged revival of the Silent Hill franchise, spurred on by the success that Resident Evil has seen in recent years. A recent report claimed that an official announcement from Konami wasn’t far away, and now, it seems like the time for that unveiling is finally here.
Taking to Twitter, Konami has announced a Silent Hill Transmission stream for Wednesday, October 19, at 2 PM PDT. “In your restless dreams, do you see that town?” the company writes, before confirming that the broadcast will feature “the latest updates for the Silent Hill series”.
As per reports, there are three separate Silent Hill games in development, one of which is a first person Silent Hill 5, which will allegedly be preceded by the launch of playable teaser called Silent Hill: The Short Message.
The next project, as per reports, is a Silent Hill 2 remake, allegedly being developed by Bloober Team (The Medium, Layers of Fear) as a console exclusive for the PlayStation. Finally, there’s an interactive horror adventure game that is supposedly being made in collaboration with Annapurna Studios. Whether any (or all) of these projects gets announced at the upcoming broadcast remains to be seen.
A new official website has also gone live for Silent Hill. Check it out through here.
