Sonic Frontiers Crosses 3 Million Units Sold

The 3D platformer, which uses new open zone mechanics, is available for Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5, PC, and Nintendo Switch.

Before its first free content update for Sonic Frontiers, Sega announced that the open zone platformer sold over three million units since its release. Its last major milestone was 2.9 million copies sold on February 10th, 2023, and it’s exceeded Sega’s expectations thus far.

Released on November 8th, 2022, Sonic Frontiers takes the Boost-style 3D platforming of the series into an open-world-like setting. As Sonic explores Starfall Islands for his friends, he runs afoul of the mysterious Sage and the Titans. Guided by a mysterious voice, Sonic fights to collect the Chaos Emeralds and ultimately free Amy, Tails and Knuckles from captivity.
