Sonic Frontiers Japanese Trailer Briefly Showcases Massive Vistas and New Vocal Song

The "open-zone" platformer is releasing this holiday season for Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch, and PC.

Sega’s Sonic Frontiers will appear at Gamescom Opening Night Live next week. However, in the meantime, audiences in Japan are seemingly getting a quick look at the upcoming “open-zone” platformer. Rebs Gaming on Twitter posted a new trailer in Japanese that’s being shown during Sonic the Hedgehog 2 movie screenings in Japan.

Though it doesn’t reveal anything especially new, the various vistas look nice (including the plains at night under the moonlight). One of the large enemies, Asura, is also seen stamping its large leg. If you’re skilled enough, it’s possible to avoid the attack and run up its leg, systematically taking it down.

As for the voiceover, Inazumag11 on Twitter said that the narrator may have been Megumi Hayashibara (who possibly plays the mysterious Sage). Fun fact: The instrumental heard in the trailer from Nintendo’s Direct Mini: Partner Showcase in June has vocals, which are heard near the end of the new Japanese trailer.

Sonic Frontiers is out this holiday season for Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One, PS5, Nintendo Switch and PC. It will be playable for attendees at Gamescom 2022.
