As if the co-op news couldn’t get any more depressing, it has now been revealed by Ubisoft Shanghai producer Liu Jun, Splinter Cell: Blacklist’s Wii U version won’t feature offline co-op.
Developed by Ubisoft Toronto under Jade Raymond’s leadership, Splinter Cell: Blacklist reportedly is connected to the single-player campaign, and allows players to seamlessly drop in during a friend’s play.
Ubisoft Shanghai is currently handling the Wii U version, and as Jun stated in an interview with Nintendo Life, this version won’t support offline co-op play because, “In order to ship at the same time as the other consoles, we unfortunately weren’t able to delve into this feature. But we think Nintendo gamers will be really excited to get the game at the same time as other consoles.”
We can’t be too sure how excited Wii U users will be getting a game that doesn’t have the same features as the other console versions. But at least it’ll make its August 20th release date in North America (August 23rd in Europe), right?
