Bethesda's epic space RPG offers a staggering 1,000 planets across 100 systems with the ability to land anywhere and explore freely.

Bethesda Game Studios finally debuted gameplay for Starfield, its space-faring RPG. Though it didn’t narrow down the previously announced 2023 release window, it did showcase lots of different things. It started with first-person shooter gameplay on the moon Kreet, which sees the player taking on Crimson Fleet members and showcasing the jetpack.

We then cut to the city of New Atlantis with various NPCs and where the members of Constellation seemingly reside. Character creation is also revealed and one can customize all elements like hair, hair color, and background (which gives three starting skills, which the NPCs will react to. There are also optional Traits with unique advantages and disadvantages. The Skill system unlocks new skills as you level up, which can be ranked up as you use them and by completing challenges.

There are also crafting systems for research projects and weapon mods; outpost building for survival and resource generation; and building one’s spaceship. Spaceships can be customized in terms of look and layout with different manufacturers, loads and whatnot. You can even choose the crew and yes, fly it and engage in ship combat.

In terms of scale, players can land on any of the 1,000 planets spread across the game’s 100 systems, encountering alien wildlife and much more. Starfield is coming to Xbox Series X/S and PC along with launching day one on Game Pass. Stay tuned for more details in the coming months.
