Street Fighter 6 launched earlier last week to instant and near universal acclaim from critics and players alike, and it’s come as no surprise that that success is being reflected in the game’s commercial performance as well, with the fighter already having hit an important sales landmark.
Capcom has announced that less than week on from launch, Street Fighter 6 has sold over 1 million units worldwide across all platforms. Earlier this week, the company announced that the game had surpassed 1 million players, with total sales for the entire franchise hitting 50 million units.
Street Fighter 6 also enjoyed the biggest ever Steam launch for a Street Fighter title, and for a major fighting game in general, with a peak concurrent player count of over 70,000, which is roughly twice as much as what Mortal Kombat 11 saw upon its release in 2019.
Whether or not Street Fighter 6 will be able to hit Capcom’s expected lifetime sales total of over 10 million units at some point down the line remains to be seen, but it’s certainly got off to solid start. It joins Resident Evil 4 Remake, another major Capcom release earlier this year that has enjoyed similar critical and commercial success.
In our review of Street Fighter 6, we awarded it a score of 9/10, saying, “Street Fighter 6 is more than the sum of its individually excellent parts. It’s a return to form for a franchise that’s been on the back foot for years, and a stellar fighting game as a whole.” Read the full review through here.
Street Fighter 6 is available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, and PC.
