Super Mario Bros. Wonder Physical Sales Eclipse Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 in UK

UK physical sales for the acclaimed Nintendo Switch title are also not far from that of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.

While it didn’t reach the top spot in Gfk’s UK physical sales charts for the week ending December 23rd, Nintendo’s Super Mario Bros. Wonder still performed very well. It ranked second, overcoming Hogwarts Legacy (which dropped to third).

EA Sports FC 24 remains on top for the holidays, but according to GamesIndustry’s Christopher Dring, Super Mario Bros. Wonder “narrowly missed” dethroning it. Even more interesting is how its physical sales have already eclipsed Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 (fourth and fifth, respectively).

It’s also not far from The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. However, as Dring notes, these are only physical sales. “Switch tends to be more physical than the other platforms, and doubly so at Christmas.” To overtake the likes of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Super Mario Bros. Wonder would need a higher percentage of digital sales, which is hard to determine since Nintendo doesn’t share that data.
