Long before there was BioShock, there was its spiritual predecessor, System Shock. The franchise was a short-lived one with two entries (both of which are in the process of being remade), but it remains a legendary one for its atmosphere, storytelling and in-depth simulation elements. A third game is underway and today we got a very early look at some gameplay footage.
Released by developer OtherSide Entertainment, we got a very brief look at some gameplay. It’s from a pre-Alpha build of the game (which they’ve teased earlier), but we still get a good idea of how the game manages to recreate and maintain the look and feel of the original series. It’s also narrated by series antagonist SHODAN, who is as creepy as ever.
As of now there’s no date for System Shock 3, but development is said to be going smoothly now after running into some rights issues that are now thankfully resolved. The game is confirmed to come to PC with unspecified consoles later.
