Some of the games getting these updates are The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom (version 1.4.0), The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (version 1.8.0), Pikmin 3 Deluxe (version 1.1.2), Super Mario Bros. Wonder (version 1.0.2), Kirby’s Dream Buffet (version 1.0.0a), Kirby Star Allies (version 4.0.0a), Super Mario 3D All-Stars (version 1.1.2), Xenoblade Chronicles 3 (version 2.2.1), Big Brain Academy: Brain vs. Brain (version 1.2.0), and ARMS (version 5.51), among others.

All of these updates revolve around giving these games improved performance for the new console over how they ran on the original Switch. Along with performance boosts, quite a few games are also getting access to new features, including GameShare and even support for HDR displays.

The Switch 2 will be hitting store shelves on June 5.

Nintendo has revealed that Super Mario Odyssey, Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury, and New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe will all receive such free Switch 2 enhancements. Super Mario Odyssey will add HDR support on the next-gen console, in addition to visual optimizations and improved picture quality, as well as GameShare support. Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury will offer the same enhancements, though Bowser’s Fury will be the only one to add HDR support. New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe, meanwhile, promises improved picture quality on the Switch 2.

Additionally, Nintendo confirms that similar free Switch 2 upgrades will also be released for Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker, ARMS, Game Garage Builder, Clubhouse Games: 51 Worldwide Classics, and Big Brain Academy: Brain vs. Brain. 

Free Switch 2 enhancements are also headed on the console’s launch day for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, as well as The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom and Link’s Awakening.

The updates in question “may” improve performance or implement GameShare, but as Nintendo notes, the content varies from game to game. So if the fidelity of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet isn’t up to snuff, try not to be too disappointed.

Of course, it’s possible that Nintendo could release updates for additional titles in the future. Time will tell, so stay tuned.

The Nintendo Switch 2 arrives on June 5th for $449.99. Launch titles include Mario Kart World (which costs an eye-watering $79.99 digitally), Hitman World of Assassination – Signature Edition, Yakuza 0: Director’s Cut, Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition, and much more.

The latest DLC fighter for Nintendo’s Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is now live with ARMS’ Min Min. She’s purchasable standalone or with Fighters Pass Vol. 2 which costs $29.99 and includes an additional five DLC fighters for the future. Update version 8.0.0 is also available and brings fighter balance changes along with the ability to have Spirit Battle rematches.

Min Min is a mid-range fighter with some interesting moves in her kit. She can attack left and right simultaneously, change ARMS for either heavy hits or firing lasers, and can jump higher depending on how long her jump is charged. Her Final Smash is also quite the spectacle as it sees the entire ARMS cast joining in for a beatdown on foes.

Additional Spirits can also be found in the shop with this update. You’ll find Master Mummy, Byte and Barq, Kid Cobra, Helix, Max Brass and many more to acquire in the Vault. New Mii Fighter costumes, particularly Heihachi from Tekken, Ninjara from ARMS, Marie and Callie from Splatoon and Vault Boy from Fallout, have also been added. Offline

• You can now have a spirit battle rematch at any time via Spirits → Collection → Inventory → Spirit List → Fight. The score will also be recorded.

Along with confirming Min Min from ARMS as the next DLC fighter for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, producer Masahiro Sakurai also revealed the next round of Mii Fighter costumes. This includes Ninjara from ARMS, Heihachi from Tekken and Callie and Marie from Splatoon. Check them out in action below.

However, perhaps the most surprising addition is Vault Boy from Fallout. As a Mii Gunner, the costume sports a ray gun as its main weapon. Does this generate hope for Skyrim’s Dragonborn to be added as a Mii costume some day? Time will tell. In the meantime, you can pick up all of the above Mii costumes for $0.75 each on June 29th.

Sakurai also revealed a very interesting way that Mii costumes can tie into one’s experience. If you face a fighter with a Spirit that matches an owned Mii costume, then that fighter’s appearance will change to match the costume. For example, facing Mega Man with Cuphead as his Spirit will change the appearance to Cuphead, so it will feel more like fighting the actual character. Stay tuned for more details on other features when the next update goes live.

From the comfort of his home, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate producer Masahiro Sakurai revealed the next DLC fighter. It’s Min Min from ARMS, who’s seen coyly tending to the ramen shop before joining the battle for the invitation. Check it out below.

Min Min is a unique fighter, capable of attacking both left and right (or up and down) at the same time. Some of her moves can be exceptionally useful for avoiding counters due to the range. Her ARMS can be slightly bent in their flight path but this is limited and won’t stop foes striking from above. She can also ARMS Jump which allows for higher leaps if the button is held for longer.

There are three different ARMS that Min Min can equip – Ramram, Megawatt and Dragon. Each has their own special property and neutral attacks in mid-air. For example, the dragon ARM can fire a laser by holding down the Smash button when attacking.

Min Min will be joining the roster on June 29th. She’s included with Fighters Pass Vol. 2 which costs $29.99 but can be purchased standalone for $5.99. Stay tuned for any updates that will also release alongside her release.

The time has finally come to learn about the next DLC fighter coming to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Nintendo of America announced on Twitter that it would reveal the next fighter, which is already confirmed to be from ARMS, on June 22nd. The reveal will take place at 7 AM PT/10 AM ET with director Masahiro Sakurai on hand for a 35-minute long livestream.

One can expect an in-depth look at the fighter’s various moves, combos and special traits. Given how controversial the last DLC fighter was (mostly because fans expected Dante from Devil May Cry), it remains to be seen how this one will fare. Nintendo has clarified that no other fighters will be revealed in the upcoming stream so keep those expectations in check.

Expect the ARMS fighter to release sometime this month, both standalone and as part of Fighters Pass Vol. 2. The pass retails for $29.99 and includes six new fighters in total along with additional stages and music tracks. Stay tuned for more details in the coming week.

During its recent mini-Direct, Nintendo dropped a bombshell announcement concerning the next DLC fighter for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Said character will be coming in June and is from ARMS, the party brawler on Switch. No details were given on who this would be but it’s rather fitting.

In the meantime, Nintendo Switch Online members can experience a free game trial for ARMS starting from today at 9 AM PT till April 6th. ARMS originally released in June 2017 and was one of the better exclusives for the Switch in the early going. It involves fighters with extendable, spring-loaded arms battering each other in arena fights.

Over time, the developer added new fighters, modes and ARMS along with balance patches. There’s a hefty amount of content to experience in the trial as a result and it should prepare players for whoever is joining the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate roster in June. Stay tuned for more details in the meantime.

Super Mario Party

The infamous ruiner of friendships debuts for the Nintendo Switch. Super Mario Party takes the more traditional approach to the series’ formula, introducing new mini-games, some with motion controls, and a new mode called Partner Party where teams of two can work together. There’s even a mode called Toad’s Rec Room where multiple Switches can be combined for gameplay across multiple screens. Super Mario Party captures the amazing feeling of losing to never-ending nonsense, which may or may not be your definition of a good time.

Owlboy

D-Pad Studio’s Owlboy first released in 2016 following years and years of development. Its charming art-style and believable characterization meshed well with the quasi-Metroidvania platforming it had to offer. Playing as Otis and flying through the skies to battle pirates and learn the truth about the world may not have been revolutionary but it’s utterly amazing adventure all the same.
