Which of these dormant franchises would you want to see return most?

Every gamer has their own mic drop surprise trailer moment. Mine, and many others, was the first Final Fantasy 7 Remake reveal during a PlayStation State of Play back in 2015. That feeling of your favorite childhood game getting the royal treatment with the best of modern technology is unparalleled. Of course, some remakes or sequels don’t feel as magical and pure as the original, but we all want to experience the hype regardless.

Sequels and remakes are tricky to get right. It can be hard to preserve the charm and quality of the original in a follow-up. It can be even tougher to surpass and iterate on what the first game did so well. Some games are just absolutely begging to be expanded upon with a new entry, and it’s those that we’ll be highlighting here. Each of these titles represents a ‘what if’ that gamers are hungry to see happen one day, but whether due to corporate meddling or cancellations, they still seem so far away.

So with that, here are the ten games whose surprise trailers would make the community absolutely lose it.

Days Gone 2

While the odds of a Days Gone sequel remains unlikely, Sony Bend has managed to stir hype thanks to the game’s April 2025 remaster. with its remaster. Days Gone Remaster finally smooths out the original’s rough framerate while enhancing its visuals with better shadows and 4K resolution. That release reignited hope for a sequel, but those hopes were eventually crushed when Sony Bend posted a job listing seeking someone with “experience with multiplayer game development and design.” The studio has a history of outright dismissing any possibility of a sequel in the past as well, but demand remains high, and where there’s demand, there’s money. Knowing Sony, it wouldn’t be completely implausible to eventually see a Days Gone 2 in the future, especially if fans remain vocal about it.

The Saboteur 2

Remember Pandemic? No, not the 2020 one, the studio that brought us Destroy All Humans and Mercenaries Playground of Destruction. The Saboteur was their last game before being dissolved into the rest of EA, and it had a lot of unique things going for it. Sure, it followed the Ubisoft open-world design ethos, but the WWII France setting and the mechanic of restoring color to liberated districts stood out. Now imagine how cool a sequel with top-notch voice talent and an actually compelling story would be. With EA’s enormous budget and the creative potential of that setting, a Saboteur 2 could finally give us a GTA-style game set in WWII Europe, but it’s a long shot at best.

Uncharted 5

The last time we ventured into the world of Uncharted was 2017’s spin-off starring Chloe and Nadine. Lost Legacy seemed to be paving the way for the next generation of Uncharted with its more open-ended exploration and, well, lack of Nathan Drake. Of course, Nathan’s story isn’t necessarily over following the ending of Uncharted 4. Like Indy coming out of retirement in the latest Indiana Jones films, Nathan can be called for one last globe-trotting adventure. Uncharted 5 is rather likely to happen at some point. Naughty Dog has been working on a project led by Uncharted writer Shaun Escayg for years now, and it’s not Intergalactic. It’s unlikely we’ll see Uncharted 5 before Intergalactic releases, but we sure hope to see it at some point.

Bloodborne 2

Is there any video game sequel more craved than Bloodborne 2? Bloodborne is the one gigantic Sony-owned IP that somehow just keeps getting overlooked. The Last of Us got numerous remasters and even Days Gone just received one. What is Sony waiting for? Well, one thing’s certain: if Bloodborne 2 were announced, it would be the only game capable of rivaling GTA 6 in sheer hype. Here’s hoping it avoids the multiplayer-heavy direction of FromSoftware’s recent projects and instead doubles down on the slow-burn, atmospheric exploration that made the original Bloodborne unforgettable.

Titanfall 3

Titanfall 3 occupies the same heartbreaking territory as Bloodborne 2: everyone wants it, yet EA refuses to greenlight it. The first cancellation came in 2019, when EA halted development in favor of Apex Legends, chasing the booming hero-shooter market and its lucrative ongoing revenue. Then, earlier in 2025, The developer had to shutter their planned Titanfall extraction shooter due to layoffs. What made Titanfall 2 so special was its well-paced and wildly inventive single-player campaign. It’s probably the last significant FPS campaign that I can think of that wasn’t a Doom title. It’s still not an impossibility that the developer gets a legitimate opportunity to make Titanfall 3, but a major shift in EA’s priorities needs to happen first.

Sleeping Dogs 2

This one’s more of a pipe dream than others on this list. Sleeping Dogs is a very popular cult classic for a reason; it oozed personality and was a genuine counterpart to GTA. Unfortunately, the development studio, United Front Games, shut down in 2016. The main developer still holds the rights to the Sleeping Dogs IP, though, so maybe there is a snowball’s chance in Southtown for it to happen. The studio’s MMO spin-off, Triad Wars, took place within the universe of Sleeping Dogs. launched briefly in open beta but was quickly shut down after poor reception. But imagine a thoroughbred sequel to Sleeping Dogs, one that wasn’t a sloppy MMO, but a single-player game with a more intricate Hong Kong map filled with fully realized martial-arts combat propelled by modern processing power. A proper Sleeping Dogs 2 could be incredible.

Metal Gear 1 Remake

“I FEEL ASLEEP!!” Imagine that iconic line from the 1988 NES version of the original Metal Gear (first released in 1987) being fully voiced in a modern, high-fidelity remake. Unlike polished and cleaned up script of the Final Fantasy 7 Remake, I’d want Konami to preserve the hilarious botched translation of the original. It would both honor Kojima and provide some charm to the game. Of course, the fully blown HD graphics and character renderings would probably make those lines extra awkward, but hey, that’s what makes the series so lovable, right? The good news is a remake of the original Metal Gear isn’t impossible. Konami has shown a willingness to remake classic Metal Gear Solid titles faithfully. And what better candidates than the very first games from the ’80s?

New Dino Crisis

Forget a new Dino Crisis—I’d settle for a remaster or a full remake of the first game. Oh, who am I kidding, I want a new Dino Crisis, sigh. The developer sits on the most beloved dormant IP, barely acknowledging series that fans have begged to see return. Who doesn’t want a new Mega Man (especially Legends), Breath of Fire, or of course, Dino Crisis? Dino Crisis—a 90s survival-horror game —never grew past its more action-oriented 2003 third entry. But fans still swear by the first game, which followed the classic Resident Evil formula in a Jurassic Park-inspired setting. A modern-day game firing on all cylinders would do justice to the original Dino Crisis if RE 2 and RE 3 Remakes are anything to go by. But just imagine what they could do with a completely new entry with the mature horror and first-person perspective of, say, Resident Evil 7.

A New inFamous

Continuing the trend of studios sitting on a golden goose is Sucker Punch and their dormant inFamous series. There was a time when a new InFamous game was the talk of the gaming town. It was a series about open world parkouring around realistic city-scapes. But one element that sets inFamous apart is its Karma system. You can choose your morality in these games, something that shows itself in the powers you unlock as well as key story decisions. With today’s more advanced processing and capabilities, the potential of that system is enormous. Imagine branching storylines, deeper morality-driven powers, and immersive-sim-style world reactions. Heck, just adding more customization elements based on morality would be awesome. But Sucker Punch will need to step away from Ghost to make it happen—and it’s unclear when that day will come.

Sekiro 2

Finally, we have another FromSoftware juggernaut that’s been left alone since its release. Unlike Bloodborne, Sekiro never even received any DLC. None. We all kinda applauded their restraint at the time, but after some years away, it’s hard not to wish the game had gotten an expansion or two. Out of all the Fromsoft games, Sekiro takes the cake for having the most awesome combat. Its very focused and specialized, leading to more intricate and precise controls. Sure, Sekiro didn’t have a lot of playstyles to choose from, but that focus is what made the limited style so polished. A sequel could expand your playstyle selection pretty significantly, and without sacrificing the original’s polish. The core combat system is already built—they’d just need to expand the build options a bit. Fans would love to see it, but as many know, Hidetaka Miyazaki isn’t fond of sequels. So while Sekiro 2 would be a dream come true, we shouldn’t expect it anytime soon.

Shuhei Yoshida revealed that Miyazaki might just be too busy to work on Bloodborne, with PlayStation wanting to respect his wishes.

While rumours and speculation for a potential remaster or sequel to one of FromSoftware’s most critically-acclaimed titles, Bloodborne, have been swirling around for quite some time now, both Sony and FromSoftware have been quiet about the game. Former PlayStation boss Shuhei Yoshida believes that the reason for the lack of any new Bloodborne-related announcement might just be a lack of time.

In a recent episode of the Kinda Funny Gamescast, Yoshida mentions that, while he doesn’t know what the situation surrounding Bloodborne is, the lack of any new announcement or game might just come down to the fact that Bloodborne director Hidetaka Miyazaki might just not have the time to work on it.

“I have only my personal theory to that situation,” explained Yoshida in the interview, which you can watch below. “I left first party so I don’t know what’s going on, but my theory is… Miyazaki-san really loved Bloodborne, you know, what he created. So I think he is interested but he’s so successful and he’s so busy, so he… cannot do it himself, but he does not want anyone else to touch it.”

Yoshida also stated that, since PlayStation has avoided bringing it up because it wants to respect Miyazaki’s wishes. “So that’s my guess, theory,” said Yoshida. “I am not revealing any secret information, just to be clear.”

Back in 2024, Miyazaki had also spoken about Bloodborne, and how important the IP was to FromSoftware. However, Miyazaki also mentioned that just having new hardware wasn’t the be-all and end-all reason to make a new game, and that accessibility would be a bigger concern.

Interestingly, in an interview with IGN from back in 2024, Miyazaki also indicated that, while he would love to work on a new Bloodborne title, the ball might not be in FromSoftware’s hands. In the interview, Miyazaki stated that FromSoftware doesn’t own the IP, and that the studio isn’t at liberty to talk about the game.

“Unfortunately, and I’ve said this in other interviews, it’s not my place to talk about Bloodborne specifically,” he said. “We simply don’t own the IP at FromSoftware. For me personally, it was a great project, and I have a lot of great memories for that game, but we’re not at liberty to speak to it. I’m very sorry about that.”

Miyazaki had also indicated that it’s not up to him for Bloodborne to get ported to PC, and indicated that saying he wants it to happen would get him in trouble. “I know for a fact these guys want a Bloodborne PC port,” he said in an interview with PCGamer last year. “If I say I want one, I’ll get in trouble as well. But it’s nothing I’m opposed to.”

Rumours from October have indicated that a new title related to Bloodborne might be in the works. Details on this title, however, are scarce, and we don’t yet know if it will be a remaster, a remake, a sequel, or if it even exists in the first place.

The last time we got to see anything related to Bloodborne was in Astro Bot, where references to the game were included as part of a celebration of PlayStation titles.

Currently, Bloodborne is only available on the PS4. PS5 players can play the game through backwards compatibility. Here are our thoughts for why we might never get a PS5 remake or remaster of Bloodborne.

If a Bloodborne sequel happens, it won't be anytime soon, according to insider Omnipotent.

Of the many games revealed at E3 2019, FromSoftware’s Elden Ring remains the most mysterious. We know that it’s an open world game that will serve as a “natural evolution” to the Dark Souls series. It also has Game of Thrones writer George R.R. Martin in charge of the world-building, which is enticing enough on its own.

Nevertheless, new details only emerge through reports and rumors. The latest comes from insider Omnipotent on ResetEra. They spoke about aspects like dynamic day/night cycles and weather, while also mentioning wildlife. “I’ll even throw you a bone and say wildlife, enemies out in the open world that change their positioning, both big and small. Things that make the world feel like it lives and breathes and doesn’t just exist as your playground and while they’re relatively minor when looked at as singular elements.

“You start to take all of these elements and put them together and ultimately what you have is something that again, shares the same DNA as past games, but culminates into something different.”

Omnipotent previously talked about Elden Ring taking inspiration from the likes of Shadow of the Colossus and Scotland’s landscapes. Take it all with a grain of salt, but it seems based on this like FromSoftware is going the extra mile with its open world design. We’ve already heard about how the world will change on its own outside of the decisions that the player makes.

Interestingly, Bloodborne 2 was also addressed. In response to another user stating that it could possibly be in the works for PS5, Omnipotent said, “From works on multiple projects all the time. As of right now, the game isn’t in development or in line to be in development. So in the event that a Bloodborne sequel does happen, it’s not happening any time soon.”

It’s not a definite “no,” but fans shouldn’t hold their breath regardless. The real question is what other projects the developer could be waiting to spring on us.

Elden Ring is currently in development for Xbox One, PS4, and PC. Stay tuned for more details in the coming months.

Director Hidetaka Miyazaki also discusses what he would have improved from the first game.

FromSoftware has busied itself with a number of excellent title over the past decade or so. The Dark Souls series is obviously the most well-known, while Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice released this year to great success, having hitting 3.8 million in worldwide shipments at last count. It’s also busy with Elden Ring, a upcoming fantasy action RPG in collaboration with Game of Thrones writer George R.R. Martin.

However, the question still arises: What about Bloodborne 2, or any kind of sequel to the excellent PS4 exclusive that released in 2015? In a recent interview with GameSpot Brazil, translated from Portugeuse by ResetEra’s Gbraga, director Hidetaka Miyazaki provided an answer. “Bloodborne 2… Unfortunately, it’s not up to me.”

This was preceded by a question about what Miyazaki would change about the first game. “I try not to think too much about which elements I’d improve after shipping a game. But I’d have improved on the Chalice Dungeons and the Blood Gems, that I wish were a bit more detailed, worked more thoroughly. I see the possibility of adding more to it.” When asked about the possibility of a sequel, Miyazaki responded with the above-mentioned statement.

It’s perhaps no surprise that the decision isn’t Miyazaki’s to make. Sony owns the IP, which is why it’s remained exclusive to the PS4 all these years and never been ported to PC, like the developer’s other efforts. Could the publisher consider a sequel for the PlayStation 5, even if the rumored Demon’s Souls remake comes to fruition? Time will tell, so stay tuned.

As for Elden Ring, it’s in development for Xbox One, PS4, and PC.

Bloodborne is arguably this gen's best new IP but Sony's consistent silence on a potential sequel is baffling.

FromSoftware’s Bloodborne, existing separately from the immensely popular Dark Souls series, was an immensely well-received game. Yet it would seem apparent that there are no plans for a sequel, potentially making Bloodborne a one-off rather than a series. It would be in line with plans for the Souls series itself, which would be set to conclude with Dark Souls 3. But why is it the case that Bloodborne 2 doesn’t exist yet? Is there any hope for a Bloodborne 2? And what is it about Bloodborne that makes a second game so in-demand to begin with? We’ll show you in this video.

Bloodborne is developed by FromSoftware, and released in between Dark Souls 2 and Dark Souls 3. While there are clear similarities in gameplay between Dark Souls games and Bloodborne, it’s generally the case that Bloodborne‘s design tends to reward faster and more aggressive gameplay. Nevertheless, the similarities in design and aesthetic have coined the nickname “Soulsborne” as a tribute to both franchise’s gameplay experiences. That being said, Dark Souls 3 released in 2016. When the Bloodborne DLC “The Old Hunters” was finished being working on by FromSoftware, the development team moved to work on a major new title – the recently released Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice.

Hidetaka Miyazaki, the director of the Souls series and Bloodborne, and also the president of FromSoftware, has been pretty vocal about his plans for Bloodborne and the Souls games. For Bloodborne in particular, Sony and FromSoftware have been consistently in denial that any such project exists – and not in a way that suggests necessarily that Bloodborne 2 is a realistic possibility, but in such a way that casts doubt that the project is currently being worked on. The easter eggs to Bloodborne found in the PSVR title Deracine were thought by many (or perhaps, hoped by many) to be an allusion to another Bloodborne title being in the works.

But such a notion was denied by Miyazaki in 2018, stating that the Easter eggs were not indicative of plans for a sequel. In a recent interview conducted with Game Informer, Miyazaki further explained that it was a decision within FromSoftware to place references to Bloodborne in Deracine strictly as a homage to the game itself, indicative of the team’s love for the title. However, Miyazaki also acknowledge that the specuation for a sequel is an indication that the Easter eggs were interpreted beyond FromSoftware’s intention, and as such they hope to tread more carefully regarding any commentary on Bloodborne in the future.

Bloodborne itself arose as Sony approached FromSoftware for a new IP. As FromSoftware was approached about the idea and Miyazaki would begin to consider it, he came to the conclusion that it was necessary for this new project to be developed on the PS4, to suit his artistic vision – high-end hardware would be necessary to create the detailed world desired for Bloodborne. This also explains why Bloodborne is not a cross-generational title – while it may seem like a long time ago, there were many titles that were released cross-generationally during the earlier part of the PS4’s life.

It must also be said that Sony itself does own the Bloodborne IP, so any notion of a sequel would have to be approved by them. This is at least part of the reason why Miyazaki had worried that the rampant speculation about a sequel to Bloodborne that arose from the Deracine Easter eggs had “inconvenienced” Sony to some degree.

But what about Bloodborne makes it so popular to begin with? The Souls games are a popular franchise to begin with, and it turns out that development for Bloodborne was concurrent with Dark Souls 2. But it’s in the exactingly difficult gameplay with a great emphasis on speed, and the haunting fantasy-horror aesthetic that combine to make a game that is both somewhat iterative on the existing “Souls formula” but still distinct on its own – though neverless fantastic in execution. The game is in no way seen as a cash-in – it has its own identity. Even if the gameplay experience is familiar to those who already appreciate the Souls series, it’s a product that heavily rewards the player’s investment into the game, and the sense of accomplishment from overcoming a difficult challenge is something that Bloodborne excels in articulating. All of this aside, Bloodborne also has a rich and interesting story that invites much speculation even after fully completing the game.

Bloodborne, a great effort from FromSoftware, resulted in a two million in sales as of September 2015, which is notable because the game itself released for all scheduled regions in late March of the same year. While Bloodborne may have released in something of a slow period, it cannot be denied that reaching that target within less than half of a year is an amazing feat, especially for a new IP.

Sony UK’s manging director Fergal Gara mentioned that he was surprised about Bloodborne commercial performance, though it is possible he many have been talking about sales within the UK itself. Even so, he had stated that he expected the game to do well, but even then Bloodborne had exceeded his expectations.

All of this being said, it is also exactly Sony that is most staunch about not making statements about a hypothetical Bloodborne 2. As Sony owns the IP, it would likely figure that if there were a hypothetical Bloodborne 2 to be released in the future, they want it to be executed in such a way that it will maximize sales potential for themselves. To make no statements on behalf of Sony itself, it could perhaps be the case that this involves development on the next Playstation system. Given Sony CEO and President Kenichiro Yoshida’s comments in 2018 about next generation hardware being “necessary,” and combining this with Sony’s ownership over the Bloodborne IP, they may want the game to take advantage of certain next generation features, or for it to be a launch title.

It also has to be said that games such as the Souls games, Bloodborne, and the recently-released Sekiro are high-investment games on the part of FromSoftware and take years to complete. Sekiro’s development began in late 2015. Bloodborne‘s development likely began in 2012.

In an interview with Japanese outlet 4Gamer that was published in December of last year, Miyazaki commented on FromSoftware’s “3.5” title development plan. Translation of this interview from Gematsu explains that this idea refers back to a comment he made in June 2016 discussing the number of games FromSoftware was working on at the time: 0.5 refers to Deracine, and 1.0 refers to Sekiro. 4Gamer had asked if this math suggested that there are two games currently in development that are unannounced, and Miyazaki confirmed it. Miyazaki further added that both games are “FromSoftware-esque titles” and that it wasn’t the time to discuss the games in depth yet, but they’ll be able to “‘tell everyone more about them once they take shape.'”

It’s tricky wording. It has been nearly two years in development for both of these games, but game development can be a lengthy process, and public commentary has to be coordinated with promotional strategy, AND with any other relevant company partners. If there’s a type of game that can be considered to be “FromSoftware-esque”, it’s very easy to respond with “Soulsborne!”, but Miyazaki has already been up front about not encouraging that speculation any more than is necessary. It also has to be said that Miyazaki has stated that he doesn’t want to indefinintely create Souls series and Bloodborne games, though he said shortly after that he thinks Dark Souls 3 is the close of the Souls series. This all adds up to assessing Bloodborne 2 as a “possibility”, but not much more. The lack of confirmations or denials, understandable either way, don’t help necessarily, but an optimist would be happy to hear that there have been no outright denials. But if Bloodborne 2 is being developed for a hypothetical Playstation 5, expect to wait several more months.

Maybe the PS5 will be revealed this year, but even that expectation is optimistic and may be ahead of Sony’s schedule. Regardless, we can say for sure that the relevant parties aren’t reacting unfavorably to the demand for Bloodborne 2! Let us know your thoughts about a hypothetical Bloodborne 2 in the comments section – do you expect one to be released at all, do you think a sequel is necessary, in light of Miyazaki’s comments about not repeatedly making Souls-like games?

It is a scientifically proven fact that Bloodborne is one of the greatest games ever created. You can disagree with it all you want, but it’d be like disagreeing with gravity. It’s no surprise, then, that millions (ourselves included) have been clamouring for a sequel for years now. Sony and FromSoftware have been unreceptive to all that clamouring so far, but recently, when the latter put Bloodborne easter eggs in their PS VR title Deracine, many felt that they were hinting at a possible Bloodborne 2.

Those hopes were promptly dashed when FromSoftware confirmed that the easter eggs were only easter eggs, and weren’t really hinting at anything. Recently, while speaking in an interview with Game Informer, Bloodborne director and FromSoftware chief Hidetaka Miyazaki said that the developer hadn’t anticipated that the easter eggs would blow up the way they did, and that the speculation that their inclusion in Deracine led to caused “great inconvenience to Sony”.

“With Déraciné, that was released recently for VR, we had an ode to Bloodborne in there,” said Miyazaki. “Both titles are published by Sony. Actually, that reference, that nod itself caused a much greater stir than we expected. Way more than we expected. When we were given that idea like, ‘Why don’t you just put a little nod in there? It’d be great.’ And we tried it and it blew up. So, we just want to tread a little bit more carefully around that front.”

“You know, it wasn’t so much that they read too much into it, it was just supposed to be a little homage, but people kind of expected Bloodborne 2 and it kind of got a little bit crazy,” Miyazaki continued. “So, we feel like we caused a great inconvenience to Sony, and that was really not our intention.”

For now, FromSoftware and Sony continue to be frustratingly silent on the topic of Bloodborne 2. Whether that’s because they don’t want to announce a project prematurely, or because there simply isn’t a Bloodborne 2 is anyone’s guess- but of course, we all hope it’s the former.

Meanwhile, FromSoftware’s current game, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, which they are working on with publishers Activision, launches on March 22 for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC.

Don't hold your breath for a return to Yharnam anytime soon.

Bloodborne is one of the greatest games to have come out this generation, so it’s no surprise that we’ve all been clamouring for a sequel for years now. There’s been no indication from either Sony or FromSoftware that that’ll happen anytime soon. Recently, easter eggs were spotted in the developer’s PS VR title Deracine that had heavy links to Bloodborne, prompting many to speculate that FromSoftware was hinting at a sequel.

If you’re in the camp that believes that (as I was too), FromSoftware boss Hidetaka Miyazaki has dashed those hopes. Recently, while speaking with Spanish website Xataka, Miyazaki and FromSoftware’s Yasuhiro Kitao were asked about the easter eggs in question in the recently released Deracine. In response, they said that though they had included the easter eggs in the game due to their love of Bloodborne, the same is not indicative of the fact that they’re going to be making a sequel anytime soon.

“Actually, this is exactly the conversation that my team and I had,” they said about the easter eggs. “It’s the kind of conversation we keep during development, because there are Easter eggs. However, the easter egg in itself is not indicative that we are going to launch Bloodborne 2.

“I’m not in a position to talk about a possible release of Bloodborne 2. However, we love Bloodborne; that’s why this easter egg has aroused so much curiosity. But, I repeat, it’s not a Bloodborne 2 notice. It’s just something that we explored among ourselves, because we love Bloodborne.”

So there you go- their words don’t necessarily mean that there isn’t going to be a Bloodborne 2, but they do mean that the easter eggs in Deracine don’t really hint at anything. For now, all we can do is continue to wait.

FromSoftware might be teasing a follow-up to what is possibly their best creation ever.

Deracine, the latest game to come out of FromSoftware in conjunction with SIE Japan Studio is now out, and even though it’s not exactly up to expectations, collaborations between the two studios have had an excellent track record regardless. In 2009, they worked wonders with the PS3 exclusive Demon’s Souls, and in 2015, they knocked the ball out of the park once again with Bloodborne, which is rightly considered to be one of the greatest games of the current console generation.

Demand for Bloodborne 2 has obviously been very high, but barring some rumours that ultimately haven’t amounted to much, there’s been no indication that it’ll happen any time soon. However, an easter egg found in From’s latest VR adventure (via Fextralife) might be hinting at the possibility of a sequel.

Players can find a doll in Deracine, named Fiona Doll, that can make the “Make Contact” gesture that fans of Bloodborne might be familiar with. What’s even more interesting is the description for the doll within the game, which mentions that it is “a doll of the stone girl Fiona, who appears in the unfinished tale“.

I know, it’s somewhat thin, but given FromSoftware’s history with passive storytelling, it’s entirely possible that this is how they’re choosing to communicate with fans that their time in Yharnam is not yet over, hence the part about “the unfinished tale”. Take a look at the image below.

If this were indeed true, it’s pretty likely that Bloodborne 2 might be a PS5 game, though there is an outside chance that it might get announced as a late-life game for the PS4 as well. Then again, as it stands right now, this might amount to nothing at all- one can always hope though.

Some high profile, unannounced games have popped up on Amazon Italy.

There have been just way too many high profile leaks for games in the last few weeks and months, but perhaps the one that had fans excited the most, and the only one that sadly didn’t get confirmed as reality, was a new Splinter Cell game. It was one of the games that was leaked by Walmart Canada ahead of E3 2018, with many people expecting that an announcement would be coming at Ubisoft’s press conference, but while almost every other game that was part of the leak was confirmed during E3, Splinter Cell remained absent.

We’re hearing more about the game now. As spotted by a user on forum ResetEra, Amazon Italy put up three listings for the game (one each for Xbox One, PS4, and PC versions), though it seems that the listings have since been removed. We’re not really sure what this means- whether or not this signifies that Amazon Italy have some knowledge about stuff that we don’t that they somehow let slip isn’t something I can say for sure. What I can say is that there’s no smoke without fire, and as far as a new Splinter Cell game is concerned, there’s been a lot of smoke lately. Come on, Ubisoft, spit it out already.

It doesn’t end there, though. Two more pretty high profile games that were listed by Amazon Italy were Sunset Overdrive 2 and Bloodborne 2. However, just like Splinter Cell, both these listings have also been taken down. I have to say, though, that these two seem quite unlikely. Especially Bloodborne 2, because while such an announcement would undoubtedly be the stuff of dreams, From Software just have too much on their plate already, with Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice and VR title Deracine already in development.

There’s some other noteworthy stuff coming out of Amazon Italy as well. On their listing of the upcoming Media Molecule developed Dreams, you’ll see that they’ve mentioned February 22nd of 2019 as the game’s release date (UPDATE: This page also seems to have been taken down by Amazon Italy). Again, this seems unlikely, because Sony already have another major first party exclusive, namely Days Gone, scheduled for launch that very day. I just don’t see how it’s likely that Sony will be launching two of their upcoming exclusives on the exact same day.

So yeah, take all this with a grain of salt. It seems unlikely that Sunset Overdrive 2 and Bloodborne 2 are a thing – for now, at least – while the release date mentioned for Dreams also seems quite unlikely. The Splinter Cell listing, too, might just be based on all the recent speculation, but you never know. Either way, stick with GamingBolt and we’ll keep you updated.

Sony's heading into E3 as the leader but can it up the ante?

It’s an open secret that Sony has trounced Microsoft to win the current generation’s console wars. The PlayStation 4 has shipped nearly 79 million units and even if it’s currently winding down, there are still plenty of high-profile games (and unannounced titles) to look forward to. Let’s examine Sony’s upcoming E3 2018 presser, what to expect from the confirmed titles and different surprises that could be in store.

The Showcase

"Perhaps the most shocking thing that could come out of Death Stranding’s presence is a release year. Not release “date”, but release year."

Since Sony has hyped up a “deeper look” into Insomniac’s Spider-Man, Naughty Dog’s The Last of Us: Part 2, Sucker Punch’s Ghost of Tsushima and Kojima Productions’ Death Stranding, I’m willing to bet that all of them receive new and/or first gameplay trailers. Shocking prediction, for sure. Of course, there are some terms and conditions to each.

Spider-Man, for instance, is out this September so it would behoove Sony to market it. Promising something “different” at E3, it’s likely that Insomniac’s open world superhero title will feature some footage of Miles Morales aka the other Spider-Man. After all, with the recently revealed Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse (produced in part by Sony Pictures) that sees young Miles making his cinematic debut, why not do a bit of cross promotion?

Death Stranding is obviously a more complicated scenario. This is where the “deeper look” of the showcase could translate to behind the scenes footage and development details, offering a more holistic look at exactly what the game is. While I believe a new trailer may be showcased, the actual gameplay might be something separate. What’s a Kojima trailer without the right amount of pretentious teasing? Then again, it wouldn’t be strange for gameplay snippets to be included as well. Perhaps the most shocking thing that could come out of Death Stranding’s presence is a release year. Not release “date”, but release year.

"Depending on Sony’s release window for the next year, it wouldn’t surprise me if Ghost of Tsushima releases in Spring 2019."

The Last of Us: Part 2 will undoubtedly see its first gameplay trailer. Too much time has passed since it was last showcased and little to no actual details have been offered by Naughty Dog. Plus, the developer is always one to raise the stakes – if it can show off actual gameplay for its fans, it will. Of course, depending on how far into development the game is, we could be looking at a release date that ranges from November 2018 to March 2019.

Finally, there’s Ghost of Tsushima. Though it’s been in development for quite a while, it strikes me as a 2019 title. Expect more information on the breadth of the open world and don’t be surprised if it’s more Tenchu then Ninja Gaiden (or some kind of cross between the two). Depending on Sony’s release window for the next year, it wouldn’t surprise me if Ghost of Tsushima releases in Spring 2019.

Sony wouldn’t focus on these four titles if it didn’t have something earth-shattering to share. Then again, the fact that Spider-Man is mixed in tells me that the publisher could be focusing more on games that have more realistic launch windows (like Dreams, which will likely arrive in November). If there’s been one criticism against Sony all these years, it’s the lack of titles having solid release dates being heavily featured at E3. Whether this is a way of changing that or not, we’ll find out this Tuesday.

Bloodborne 2

"If rumours must be taken seriously, then maybe this is a game in the vein of From Software’s Kuon, which released on the PS2 in 2004. It can’t get any more out of left field than that."

Had you asked me if Bloodborne 2, after all the rumours over all these years, was actually happening at E3 2018, I’d still be divided on what to tell you. From Software’s highly acclaimed PS4 exclusive still remains in the spotlight and rumours of its sequel continue to resonate with fans. This is despite creator Hidetaka Miyazaki insisting on a break from the Souls series after Dark Souls 3. “Never say never” and all that jazz but it would be odd if From Software went back to the well so quickly after revealing no new projects.

That doesn’t change the theory that Shadows Die Twice could be something macabre like Bloodborne. Maybe it’s a hack and slash title with a new combat system but set in a different universe. Perhaps it imbibes many of the same Lovecraftian vibes. How close could it be to Bloodborne 2 without actually being Bloodborne 2? Personally, I’d find it hilarious if Miyazaki took the stage to confirm that this is actually the next Front Mission. If rumours must be taken seriously, then maybe this is a game in the vein of From Software’s Kuon, which released on the PS2 in 2004. It can’t get any more out of left field than that.

Square-Enix And Others

"On a side note: What is SIE Japan Studio up to? The studio has worked on a number of titles, from Gravity Rush 2 to The Last Guardian and helping Bluepoint Games with the Shadow of the Colossus remaster. Could its latest effort be revealed as well at E3?"

Square Enix will be hosting its own presser on June 11th before Sony’s E3 conference. While we believe that Kingdom Hearts 3 will receive a release date there, it wouldn’t be all that odd for Final Fantasy 7 Remake to appear on Sony’s show. That being said, both games could make appearances in both pressers. Anything is possible. No, that doesn’t mean that Nier Automata 2 or whatever Nier sequel happens to be in early development will be revealed. But a short tease from Square Enix doesn’t seem far-fetched.

Of course, there will be footage for games like the remasters of Yakuza 3, 4 and 5. The recent announcement of Dead or Alive 6 by Team Ninja, which promises an update on June 11th, could lead to more gameplay footage and details at Sony’s presser. However, the most interesting announcements will seemingly come from Capcom. Not only does it seem like Resident Evil 2 Remake will be revealed but the long-awaited Devil May Cry 5 may finally be announced. Granted, the recent domain registration and shift to Capcom servers doesn’t guarantee it’s being revealed at Sony’s presser. But if there was ever a time and place, then E3 2018 would be it.

Furthermore, Capcom could use the stage to deliver more information on Monster Hunter World. Rumours are already running rife about the next big area coming to the game in August/September, not to mention brand new monsters and the like. For the most part, we believe the rumoured Summer Twilight festival will be unveiled and the PC version finally dated. Whether the latter ends up coming in October or not is unsure.

On a side note: What is SIE Japan Studio up to? The studio has worked on a number of titles, from Gravity Rush 2 to The Last Guardian and helping Bluepoint Games with the Shadow of the Colossus remaster. Could its latest effort be revealed as well at E3?

All The Rest

"One title that definitely warrants looking out for is Bluepoint Games’ next remaster. The studio has indicated that its slightly bigger than Shadow of the Colossus on PS4 but that could mean any number of things."

What more do you expect from Sony out of E3 2018, especially given the number of games that will be hogging the stage? Red Dead Redemption 2 will receive a new gameplay trailer, along with more information on the exclusive PS4 content that’s coming. The real question is whether the online component will be revealed. It’s not quite Rockstar’s style to do that at E3 but we’ll see.

Furthermore, Activision’s usual titles like Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 and Destiny 2: Forsaken will receive new gameplay trailers, the former possibly debuting its battle royale-style mode Blackout. The latter will likely tease the PS4 exclusive strike, weapons and armour along with new footage. Nothing too crazy, to be honest.

One title that definitely warrants looking out for is Bluepoint Games’ next remaster. The studio has indicated that its slightly bigger than Shadow of the Colossus on PS4 but that could mean any number of things. Demon Souls Remastered? Let’s not get our hopes up. All the same, wouldn’t it be something if Bluepoint was teaming up with SIE Japan Studio again?

Sony’s E3 2018 presser will take place at 6 PM PST on June 11th. What announcements do you hope to see? Let us know in the comments.
