If you're playing Resident Evil Requiem on PC, these mods could add some flavor to the mix and spice things up.

If you’re like us, you’ve probably torn through most of what Resident Evil Requiem has to offer. But with a lot to unlock in New Game Plus and the thrill of Insanity Mode beckoning, subsequent playthroughs are an opportunity to try having some fun with the game.

That’s even more so on the PC, where the modding community has stepped up as usual, bringing interesting touches to the game’s excellent formula. We’ve been having a blast with some of the best ones available out there, and we thought of giving you some of our recommendations for ones you should definitely check out if you’re looking to make things interesting in your search for Elpis.

Before we dive in, we should tell you that you might need the Fluffy Mod Manager and REFramework up and running, as they are prerequisites for a few of the ones we’re diving into. With that out of the way, it’s time to see what the best Requiem mods are capable of.

Let’s get started!

1. Auto Item Reveal

Whether it’s your first run or your fifth, having your map reveal item locations is bound to come in handy in a game where they play such an important role. This one lets you easily pick up important items as you explore an area, letting your map guide you to them and saving you a bit of time. Of course, items hidden away in drawers are still going to need you to find them the old-fashioned way, but for everything else, this one’s quite nifty.

One of the things we liked about it is that it doesn’t automatically reveal items in areas you haven’t reached yet, but once you do, it springs into action to help you out.

2. More Enemies

While the previous mod is aimed at making your time in the game easier, this one does the opposite by adding more enemies of all types across the board. It’s a work in progress at the moment, with Wrenwood and Rhodes Hill already complete, while Raccoon City is yet to receive a full set of new enemies. Nevertheless, this is a great addition for those of you looking to add a bit of challenge to your playthroughs.

Slap on a higher difficulty option and you’re probably going to find yourself thinking about new ways to get by in the game.

3. Health Bars

If you’re looking to make the game’s UI more intuitive while you take on its enemies, this one adds some useful information like their remaining health, a stun meter, the enemy’s name, and a column to make all of it readable on the fly.

There are a bunch of configurable options for you to use, ensuring that you get all the information you need without it being too obtrusive. That makes this one a very useful addition for those of you who’d like to know exactly how much damage you’re dealing and how many more parries/hits you need to stun an opponent.

4. Handgun Ammo For Requiem

When Leon hands Grace the powerful Requiem firearm, he forgets to give her something really important for its consistent use: ammo. It’s a specialised weapon that we like to think originated from the Kendo brothers and, as such, needs specialized ammo to use. However, if you’re a fan of its raw power and its undeniable wow factor, this mod lets you use handgun ammo with it.

There’s even an optional add-on that improves the weapon’s rate of fire, accuracy, and magazine capacity, which could make Requiem truly live up to its name and blast your enemies into oblivion.

5. Holster Weapons

Tired of having to open up your inventory menu every time you want to holster your weapon? This mod addresses that specific problem, allowing you to holster any firearm you use with ease. It works with both controllers or a keyboard/mouse setup, making it a versatile addition that makes a rather tedious problem go away for those of you who like a bit of style and ease of play.

6. Xenomorph

The world of horror entertainment has no shortage of terrifying creatures that are experts at hunting their prey. And while The Girl was quite terrifying to behold, and even more scary to evade, you might want to introduce one of modern entertainment’s finest hunters to Requiem: the Xenomorph from the Alien franchise.

Well, you’re in luck. Enable this mod, and you’ll find that Grace is going to be stalked by one of the world’s apex predators, making her time at Rhodes Hill even scarier in the process.

7. Dynamic Weapon Profiles

Would you like your weapons to hit harder or faster, or perhaps a combination of both? This one brings a lot of options to the table, with easily selectable profiles for your weapons that you can customize, improving their stats to make things easier. It brings a bevy of options and the ability to quickly switch between any profiles you select quite easily.

What’s more, quick toggle options for Recoil, Accuracy, and Focus can be of great use to those of you who find that your aim is thrown off by the terrifying targets you’re trying to shoot, making your chances of survival improve by a long shot.

8. Weapon Lasers

Remember those handy laser pointers in RE5 that made aiming for enemy weak spots a breeze? This mod recreates them for Requiem, allowing you to better hit enemy weak spots and give yourself an advantage that the zombies must then contend with in the field.

It’s compatible with both Grace and Leon, and works in both first and third-person perspectives. That’s quite a comprehensive addition and a simple change that could make a world of difference to how you approach the game.

9. Easy To Find Mr. Raccoon

If you’re a collectible hunter having trouble finding those adorable Mr. Raccoon bobbleheads strewn about the levels you’re exploring, this mod is for you. It makes them all glow in a color of your choice, making them quite easy to find as they stand out from the game’s generally somber environments.

While it may not be a mod that drastically alters your gameplay, it could save you a lot of time spent searching for the little rascals.

10. Fog In Raccoon City

It’s no secret that we’re fans of what the developers did with Raccoon City in Requiem, its devastation and desolation coming across from the very first time we set eyes on it. But this one took things to a new level entirely, making the city feel like the ghosts of its past were constantly present as we guided Leon through its streets and alleyways.

We found ourselves favoring it so much that we refuse to explore the city’s ruins without it every time we play on PC, and even wish that we could find a way to enable it on the console versions of the game.

11. Mr. X Fedora

If you were like us, you probably want the Tyrant that Leon’s forced to fight in Raccoon City to resemble the one he had to run from back in RE2 a little more closely. This mod is a step in the right direction on that front, adding a fedora to it and making it look that much closer to Mr. X’s imposing presence from Leon’s first day on the job.

For a game that’s quite heavy on the nostalgia factor, this one’s definitely on brand.

12. Chainsaw Massacre

This is a simple one that could make a world of difference to your playthrough. It makes nearly every zombie in the game wield a chainsaw. That’s a change that could make things much easier or harder, depending on how you tackle threats as either Leon or Grace, but it’s definitely an interesting wrinkle to play with for those of you who like to experiment.

13. Quickstep

Looking for an effective dodge mechanic? This mod’s got you covered for both Leon and Grace. It’s tied to your run input and gives you i-frames, and a speed boost when you enable the run action, the duration of which is left to you to configure.

Just be aware that you can only run forward in first-person as the game intends, and use this one as well as you can to fundamentally alter the way you approach direct confrontations with the zombies.

14. Play As Leon Across The Game

This one might not be conducive for those of you playing the story, but if you want to see what it would be like to control Leon across the entire game, you’re in luck.

Of course, you must contend with a few issues, such as Leon being unable to aim his gun after picking up Emily and placing her on the sofa, and a few other problems outlined in the mod’s description, but it’s still a fun addition and something to try out once you roll the credits on Requiem.

15. Movement Speed

We saved the best for last! This one lets you configure movement speeds for every playable character in the game, with separate sliders for walking, running, and crouching movement. It’s quite handy for playthroughs after your first one, and could change the way you play the game depending on how fast you make your characters.

Use this one wisely, as it could trivialize the game if you take too much advantage of it.

And that’s a wrap on the best PC mods for Resident Evil Requiem we tried out. We hope that you have as much fun with them as we did!

A night in the museum.

Capcom Arcade 2nd Stadium doesn’t particularly mess with the winning formula that the original release last year struck, and that most of Capcom’s legacy game collections in general have been hitting over the last few years. Here we have a collection of 32 games from Capcom’s heyday as an arcade game developer, meticulously curated and emulated on all modern systems. The games include support for different control schemes, save states, infinite credits, and other concessions to help accommodate modern player sensibilities – other than that, these are almost entirely identical to the games you may have once played in arcades long ago.

There was a time when arcades represented the zenith of video game technology and hardware. New consoles were always announced in terms of how well they stacked up to arcades, and getting an arcade game running nearly identically on a home console (“arcade perfect ports” as they were called) was the ultimate bragging right for any home console. So there is something almost surreal about seeing so many classic arcade titles running without skipping a beat on everything from the (cargo pants) pocket sized Nintendo Switch to your hulking PC tower, to everything in between. In many ways, that is the ultimate testament to how far video games have come as a medium – the games included in this collection may not be cutting edge by today’s standards, but they absolutely were once. Now any console can run them nearly perfectly through brute force emulation. Progress!

These games also represent a throwback to a time when arcades were where all of the best developers in the world cut their teeth. From Sega to Namco, Konami to Nintendo, to, yes, Capcom, arcade games were where they all got their starts, designing games so compelling that players would actively feel the compulsion to stay and spend endless quarters in an attempt to conquer the challenge those games posed. A lot has been said over the years about the style of game design arcades demanded, and how that differs from what console gaming would go on to become, and how modern console sensibilities don’t necessarily allow for the old school pure arcade style of video game design.

"Perhaps the most impressive thing about this collection of games is nothing less than just how well so many games in here actually hold up."

But you know what? Perhaps the most impressive thing about this collection of games is nothing less than just how well so many games in here actually hold up. A surprising range of genres is represented here, from fighting games to brawlers, puzzle games to shooters, platforms to action games, and more still. And yes, quite a few of them have since been bettered by other games that would follow in their footsteps and continue their lineage. But I was remarkably surprised by how well some of these games hold up. Take, for instance, Knights of the Round. This brawler based on the King Arthurian legend of old is a surprisingly engaging and addictive experience, one I actually did want to spend time with well beyond the necessities of this review were past. Knights of the Round is fun to play, and actually represents some of the first steps towards longer form storytelling and role playing mechanics that games of its ilk would begin to take (yes, there was a time when you could just… have a game without having a dozen RPG systems overlain on top, these arcade games represent that time).

There is Speed Rumbler, a game that has a very Mad Max like idea of what 21st century America would look like (no further comments will be made on this one point), which creates this fascinating blend of driving, shooting, and action gameplay. Once more, what is most remarkable about this game is how well it holds up. ECO Fighters, a side scrolling shooter that takes on a prescient ecological friendly theme, working more as a relic of its time than as a particularly compelling example of its genre today (unlike the former two games I named).

Honestly, there’s a lot of games to go through, and almost every single one of them presents some reason to look into them. Some are curios, examples better of what games were once like than anything meaningfully compelling in today’s day and age. Others actually hold up well – apart from the ones I mentioned above, the Street Fighter and Darkstalker games in particular (which makes sense, Capcom’s fighting games are practically timeless after all). Also timeless – Block Breaker, a remarkably literal and straightforward translation of Atari and Steve Wozniak’s Breakout (I may have spent more time on this one than any of the other ones in the collection). I would argue for any fan of Capcom, or just an enthusiast of the medium, the collection of games here is more than enough to justify spending some time on this virtual museum of Capcom’s greatest (and some more obscure) hits.

"So, yes – if you’re an enthusiast of the medium, or a fan of Capcom’s arcade glory day? Capcom Arcade 2nd Stadium is well worth your time, and I would say it’s worth it to check out most, if not all, of the games. A lot of them may not have held up as well, but even they hold some value as a sort of time capsule."

Games aside, as mentioned, there are multiple other bonuses here. A snazzy interface and online functionality for sharing scores aside, you also get control remapping and save states, an in-built achievement system, the ability to play games in their original aspect ratio or stretched to fill the screen, play them with a scanline filter, add a 3D arcade cabinet as the border to get that real arcade feel, add wallpapers and art… you can even change the orientation of the screen (to get the true vertical arcade screen experience, and you get some pretty detailed manuals on each game as well. Almost none of this will mean anything to someone who wasn’t already a fan of Capcom arcade games (or just arcade games in general) – but then again, if you’re not a fan of arcade games, I honestly don’t know why you would even be playing this.

So, yes – if you’re an enthusiast of the medium, or a fan of Capcom’s arcade glory day? Capcom Arcade 2nd Stadium is well worth your time, and I would say it’s worth it to check out most, if not all, of the games. A lot of them may not have held up as well, but even they hold some value as a sort of time capsule. Video games have come a long way since the heyday of the arcade – but that doesn’t mean we have to forget the medium’s roots, after all. Capcom certainly isn’t.

Capcom Arcade 2nd Stadium will apparently include classics like Street Fighter, Darkstalkers, and others, as unearthed by a leaked Microsoft Store listing.

Capcom announced Capcom Arcade 2nd Stadium back in April, and fans have been eagerly waiting to know more about the collection’s lineup of games ever since. While the publisher itself has remained tight-lipped on the matter, it seems leaks have unearthed the full list of 32 games included in the collection.

TrueAchievements apparently pulled in Microsoft Store listings for the games, and it seems that there are a lot of overlapping games with the upcoming Capcom Fighting Collection. In addition to the usual Street Fighters and Darkstalkers inclusions, Capcom Arcade 2nd Stadium will also include a couple of fighting games in the Mega Man franchise alongside other titles like Vampire Savior: The Lord of Vampire.

Anyway, here’s the full list of games included:

1943 Kai

Black Tiger

Block Block

Capcom Sports Club

Darkstalkers: The Night Warriors

Eco Fighters

Gan Sumoku (GunSmoke)

Hissatsu Buraiken (Avengers)

Hyper Dyne Side Arms

Hyper Street Fighter II: The Anniversary Edition

Knights of the Round

Last Duel

Magic Sword

Mega Man: The Power Battle

Mega Man 2: The Power Fighters

Night Warriors: Darkstalkers’ Revenge

Pnickies

Rally 2011 LED Storm

Saturday Night Slam Masters

Savage Bees (Exed Exes)

SonSon

Street Fighter

Street Fighter Alpha: Warriors’ Dreams

Street Fighter Alpha 2

Street Fighter Alpha 3

Super Gem Fighter Mini Mix

Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo

The King of Dragons

The Speed Rumbler (Rush & Crash)

Three Wonders

Tiger Road

Vampire Savior: The Lord of Vampire

It’s important to know that this is all leaked information, and not officially communicated information by Capcom.

Capcom previously stated that the free-to-download base version of the game will include SonSon, and players can either opt to purchase additional titles one by one or collectively through a bundle like the first Arcade Stadium (which was priced at $39.99).

It’s possible that Capcom may unveil more details during its showcase event, which is set for June 13th- so stay tuned until then.

The new arcade collection has been announced for Nintendo Switch, PS4, Xbox One, and PC, but no release date has been announced yet.

Last year, Capcom repackaged 32 beloved arcade classics in Capcom Arcade Stadium, a solid throwback to the company’s earlier years. More recently, a classification rating in Korea suggested that Capcom is going to release a sequel– and that has now been confirmed.

Taking recently to Twitter, Capcom officially announced Capcom Arcade 2nd Stadium, which will bring another 32 arcade classics, with SonSon being included as a free download in the collection. Meanwhile, anyone who pre-order the upcoming Capcom Fighting Collection or purchase it early will also get a bonus game in the arcade collection – Three Wonders – at launch.

Not many other details about the collection have been announced yet, but Capcom says more information will be coming soon, so stay tuned for more updates in the coming weeks.

Capcom Arcade 2nd Stadium hasn’t been given a launch window yet, but as spotted by @ALmunia_Italia on Twitter, a backend listing on the Xbox Store suggests it will launch on July 22. Whenever it releases, it will be available for PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC.

Capcom Arcade 2nd Stadium has been rated in Korea, suggesting that a sequel to Capcom's 2021 arcade collection might be in the works.

In February last year, Capcom released Capcom Arcade Stadium for the Nintendo Switch, and then brought it over to PS4, Xbox One, and PC a few months later, offering a cavalcade of beloved Capcom arcade titles from the ’80s and ’90s, from Commando and Final Fight to Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo and many, many more. And it seems like the Japanese company is preparing to double down on those offerings.

As reported by VGC, a classification rating for Capcom Arcade 2nd Stadium was recently spotted on the website of the Korean ratings board, the Game Rating and Administration Committee of Korea (GRAC). There’s also a separate rating for Capcom Arcade 2nd Stadium Bundle #1, suggesting that the sequel might follow a similar release plan to the first game.

Interestingly, while the original Capcom Arcade Stadium received an age rating of 12+ in South Korea, its sequel and the bundle pack shave received a 15+ rating.

Both ratings only mention PC as a platform, and contain the following brief description for the game: “A PC game that features various retro arcade games from the ’80s and ’90s developed by Capcom as a collection.”

Of course, Capcom is yet to officially announce a full-fledged sequel to the arcade collection, but if the classification rating is anything to go by, that could change soon.

As is always the case, don’t treat this as confirmed until Capcom makes an announcement- though leaks of unannounced games via age ratings generally tend to be accurate. Either way, we’ll keep you updated, so stay tuned.
