All three titles are available from August 1st to September 4th and are also playable by PlayStation Plus Extra/Premium subscribers.

Sony has announced the free monthly games coming to PlayStation Plus Essential (and Extra/Premium) subscribers in August. Starting August 1st, you can download Death’s Door, PGA Tour 2K23 and Dreams for free. They’ll be available to claim until September 4th.

Acid Nerve’s Death’s Door is playable on PS4 and PS5 and features a Crow, acting as a Grim Reaper, who harvests souls. After venturing to a realm where death doesn’t exist, you must gather several Great Souls to open Death’s Door. The isometric action-adventure title combines aspects of The Legend of Zelda and Dark Souls for a challenging but fan experience.

Media Molecule’s Dreams is part video game and part creation suite, with tools for creating music, animations, cinematics and games. It’s only playable on PS4 but has received significant support, including new single-player campaigns. If that weren’t enough, the developer’s newest game, Tren, is also available.

Finally, there’s PGA Tour 2K23 for PS4 and PS5, which offers pro golf. It features the usual 2K Games tropes like MyPLAYER, but you can also learn Skills and use Archetypes to customize them. With Casual Mode, a Course Designer, and more, there’s a lot for fans to dive into.

The best is yet to come for Microsoft's ninth-generation consoles, but there have been plenty of must-play titles since it first launched.

When factoring in all of the exclusives that the PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch, the Xbox Series X/S feels kind of…barren in comparison. Nevertheless, there have been some standouts and Game Pass has helped provide a platform for several excellent games that would have otherwise gone unplayed. Let’s take a look at 30 of the best Xbox Series X/S titles of all time, to date.

Elden Ring

It’s easy to dismiss Elden Ring as little more than open-world Dark Souls. But it takes the sheer freedom of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and packs it with weapons, Incantations, Sorceries, armor, enemies, mini-bosses, side quests, lore and quirky characters. Elden Ring is a dense experience that goes from one spectacle to the next.

The list of 38 Steam Deck Verified games so far also includes the likes of Hollow Knight, Psychonauts 2, Scarlet Nexus, and several more.

Back in October, Valve confirmed it had started the process of going through the entire library of game available on Steam and getting them ready for the Steam Deck. This would see games being given one of three tags- Verified, which are games that are fully optimized for the Steam Deck; Playable, which are games that will run on the device but not might be completely optimized; and Unsupported, which are games that don’t currently run on the handheld.

The first batch of games in those three categories has now been revealed (courtesy of SteamDB), and there are some interesting names in each list. The list of Unsupported games is a pretty short one with just 5 games, though it does have one notable name- Persona 4 Golden. The game’s own page says that Valve is still working on adding support though, so hopefully this won’t be permanent.

24 games so far have the Playable tag. The list includes the likes of The Witcher 3, Slay the Spire, Inscryption, Subnautica, Valheim, Tomb Raider, Rise of the Tomb Raider, NieR: Automata, Bravely Default 2, and more. That means that right now, these games are playable on the Steam Deck, but might still run into a few issues here and there.

Finally, there’s the first batch of Steam Deck Verified games, which lists 38 titles right now and is already looking impressive. Games that have already been fully optimized for the upcoming handheld device include the likes of Portal 2, Celeste, Hollow Knight, Dishonored, Cuphead 2, Psychonauts 2, Dark Souls 2, Dark Souls 3, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, Death’s Door, Death Stranding, Mad Max, Scarlet Nexus, Aliens: Fireteam Elite, Hot Wheels Unleashed, the upcoming Total War: Warhammer 3, and many others.

You can check out the full list of the Steam Deck’s Verified, Playable, and Unsupported games so far below.

The Steam Deck is scheduled to launch in February.

Even with some of its biggest games still to come, the Xbox Series X has had a very good first year. Here are some of its best releases so far.

Given the challenges that Microsoft faced with the Xbox One, it’s safe to say that the Xbox Series X has had a much better first year. While the studio’s biggest first party exclusives are still to come – and many more likely won’t be seen for years to come – we’ve received a fairly diverse and fun range of titles in the past year. There’s also no downplaying Xbox Game Pass, which has both lowered the barrier of entry for so many new experiences and provided incredible value. Without further ado, let’s take a look back at 20 of the best Xbox Series X titles since the console’s launch.

Halo Infinite Multiplayer

Yes, it’s technically a beta but Halo Infinite’s free to play multiplayer component is content-complete ahead of the campaign’s launch in December. And while much can be said about progression, the extensive monetization or the horrid Armor Cores system, the gameplay is simply exquisite. It plays like the perfect mix of Halo’s classic gun play and movement combined with solid power-ups (that aren’t overbearing) and weapon balance. Map design ranges from good to great, and the extensive polish is a sight to behold in light of the competition. There’s still a ways to go but in terms of fun, Halo Infinite’s multiplayer is already top-notch.

Acid Nerve and Devolver Digital's acclaimed Zelda-inspired action-adventure title has launched for Switch and PlayStation.

Developer Acid Nerve and publisher Devolver Digital’s classic Zelda-inspired action-adventure title Death’s Door launched for PC and Xbox consoles earlier this year, and was instantly met by near-universal acclaim among critics and audiences alike. Now, it’s opened the door for even more players to dive in and see what all the fuss is about. Death’s Door is available now on PS5, PS4, and Nintendo Switch- check out the new launch trailer below.

Death’s Door sees players playing as a crow that reaps the souls of the dead, with a structure defined by an overworld and dungeon-based progression similar to classic The Legend of Zelda titles. Within less than a week of its launch, the game had amassed over 100,000 players, and though updated figures haven’t been provided since then, developer Acid Nerve has said that the game’s success has exceeded all of its expectations.

In our review of Death’s Door, we awarded the game a score of 8/10, saying, “Even with a few issues, Death’s Door is a tightly designed, challenging game that does wonders with its classic Zelda-inspired formula.” You can read our full review through here.

Acid Nerve's excellent Zelda-like action-adventure title is finally coming to the Nintendo Switch and PlayStation consoles next month.

Acid Nerve’s Death’s Door came out this July for Xbox consoles and PC, and was instantly met with near-universal acclaim, being highly praised for its charming world, brutal combat, and tight level design, all wrapped up in an experience that resembled classic The Legend of Zelda titles in all the right ways. Death’s Door’s certainly seen its fair share of success, and the developer has been aware that there’s demand for the game to be brought over to other platforms as well- and soon that demand will be met.

At the recent State of Play, publisher Devolver Digital announced that Death’s Door will be launching for PS5 and PS4 in November. Shortly afterward, the publisher confirmed on Twitter that it’ll be launching for the Nintendo Switch as well.

On a PlayStation Blog post, Acid Nerve confirmed that the game will run in 60 FPS on the PS5, while it will also support the DualSense’s haptic feedback. From your attacks to even your movement, expect the feedback for all of it to reflect “the weight, speed, complexity, and feel of each impact”, as the developer puts it.

Death’s Door is currently available on Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and PC, and will launch for PS5, PS4, and Nintendo Switch on November 23.

In our review of the game, we awarded it a score of 8/10, saying, “Even with a few issues, Death’s Door is a tightly designed, challenging game that does wonders with its classic Zelda-inspired formula.” You can read our full review through here.

The developer also states that launching the game as an Xbox console exclusive was always the plan, but knows that a Switch port is in great demand.

Acid Nerve launched their Zelda-style dungeon-crawling action-adventure title Death’s Door recently, and have been enjoying great success on multiple fronts, having been met with near-universal acclaim and having amassed over 100,000 players in less than a week. As you’d expect, the developers are thrilled with how the game is performing.

Speaking to 9news, David Fenn – one half of the two-man team at Acid Nerve – said that the game’s success has met Acid Nerve’s “wildest expectations.”

“Nothing could’ve gone better,” Fenn said. “It’s kind of just our wildest expectations have been met.”

Acid Nerve’s Mark Foster went on to remark that Death’s Door being an Xbox console exclusive was part of the plan from the get go, and commented on its success despite the fact that it’s not available via Xbox Game Pass. “It was always Xbox exclusive, that was the plan from the very beginning,” Foster said. “It seems like people are actually willing to buy a game in 2021, which is a nice surprise.”

Of course, given Death’s Door nature as an indie game and the fact that it’s so heavily inspired by classic Zelda games, it goes without saying that there’s quite a lot of demand for the game on the Nintendo Switch. And while Acid Nerve has nothing to announce right now regarding any ports, the developer is aware of that.

“There’s no current plans we can announce today,” Fenn said, “but Switch is a very popular request for game developers these days.”

Currently, Death’s Door is available on Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and PC. You can read our review of the game through here.

Acid Nerve and Devolver Digital's top-down action-adventure title is enjoying strong success to match its critical reception.

Acid Nerve and Devolver Digital recently launched Death’s Door for Xbox and PC, bringing an action-adventure game inspired by classic The Legend of Zelda games, and it’s attracted nearly universal praise from critics and audiences alike. And it seems the success it’s enjoying is reflecting that.

Developer Acid Nerve recently took to Twitter to confirm that Death’s Door has already amassed over 100,000 players. The game launched less than a week ago, on July 20, so this is a pretty impressive milestone. This does not, of course, reflect the game’s sales, but it’s a notable accomplishment nonetheless.

Death’s Door is available now on Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and PC. In our review of the game, we awarded it a score of 8/10, saying, “Even with a few issues, Death’s Door is a tightly designed, challenging game that does wonders with its classic Zelda-inspired formula.” You can read our full review through here.

The isometric hack and slash title, Death's Door, has scored very well with critics. It's out now on Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and PC.

Having launched earlier this week for Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One and PC, Acid Nerve’s Death’s Door has racked up quite a bit of critical acclaim. To celebrate its positive reception, a new trailer has been released by publisher Devolver Digital. It highlights the praise while showcasing a mix of gameplay and cutscenes.

Death’s Door is the story of a crow, except this one reaps the souls of the dead. Everything is business as usual until one particular soul is stolen by a thief. It’s the crow’s job to retrieve it, even if it means traveling to a strange world where things never die.

Taking inspiration from old-school titles in The Legend of Zelda series, Death’s Door offers an isometric perspective with hack and slash combat. For more details on what makes the game so much fun, check out our official review here. It now remains to be seen whether it will release for other platforms like PS4, PS5 and Nintendo Switch.
