Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 6 is here, kicking off with the single-player esque Zero Crisis Finale. Sections of the island have reverted to a “primal” state – hence the name of the season – and there’s a new battle pass with cosmetics to unlock. These include characters like Lara Croft from Tomb Raider with her classic and 2013 reboot outfits being present.

Raven from Teen Titans: Rebirth and Neymar Jr. from Paris Saint-Germain Football Club (who’s coming soon) are also included along with Cluck and Agent Jones. Check them all out below. Given how Season 5 played out, there should be even more skins available to purchase with V-Bucks in the coming months.

Along with map changes, Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 6 introduces some interesting new mechanics like hunting and taming wild animals like wolves and crafting. New weapons like the Primal Rifle, Revolver and Flame and Metal Bow have also been added, with the bow having a rope arrow for rapidly ascending up structures. Stay tuned for more details on the season as it progresses.

A new season of Fortnite Chapter 2 is upon us. Season 6: Primal is currently available and kicks off in epic circumstances. As revealed in the Zero Crisis cinematic trailer, Agent Jonesy confers with the Seven to stop the Zero Point from imploding. Which is easier said than done when there’s chaos, Terminators and Xenomorphs everywhere.

The trailer sets up the battle royale title’s first single-player experience – Zero Point Finale – which is currently live for all players. Expect more details on map changes, new content additions and more later today. A new battle pass with several new cosmetics to earn should also be going live.

Fortnite is currently available for PC, Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S and Android. It’s come a long way since first launching in September 2017. The previous season witnessed a number of different guest characters, from Halo’s Master Chief and God of War’s Kratos to Street Fighter’s Ryu and Chun-Li.

Epic Games will also be winding down new content for the PvE mode.

It’s easy to forget that when Epic Games’ Fortnite launched in July 2017, it was with a PvE mode called Save the World. It was in paid early access but the plan was to release it as a free to play title down the line. Of course, then Fortnite Battle Royale arrived and took over the industry. Now, several years later, Fortnite is leaving early access (which includes the battle royale mode).

However, Save the World will not be going free to play. It will instead remain a paid experience with all Founder’s Pack owners receiving a free upgrade for additional rewards. Ultimate Edition owners will receive a new skin pack (Metal Team Leader) and 8,000 V-Bucks. Unfortunately, Epic Games is slowing development of new content once Save the World officially launches.

Also, any skins acquired in Fortnite Battle Royale in the future won’t be supported in Save the World (though players will be notified beforehand when this happens). To keep players going, Ventures are being introduced. These are season-long endeavors which provide different modifiers for a specific zone. Completing challenges in this will influence difficulty, weapons obtained and Supercharger materials for upgrading current weapons beyond their current level cap.

Check out the full blog post for more details on how seasons will work in Save the World going forward and stay tuned in the meantime.

Originally slated to end on June 4th, Season 3 will now start one week later.

Season 2 of Epic Games’ Fortnite: Chapter 2 was meant to come to a close in April. This was delayed to June 4th but it now seems there will be one more delay before Season 3 has a chance to begin. The developer announced that Season 3 will now begin on June 11th.

In the meantime, there’s a new one-time only live event taking place on June 6th at 2 PM ET called The Device. It seems that space is limited so make sure to arrive 30 minutes before the event starts to “secure your spot”. What could go down? We’ll have to wait until next Saturday to find out.

Despite these delays, Fortnite is still going strong. Earlier this month, Epic Games reported over 350 million registered players with over 3.2 billion hours played in April alone. The title has also been confirmed to release for Xbox Series X and PS5 when both consoles launch and will migrate over to Unreal Engine 5 in mid-2021.

Epic Games reports over 3.2 billion hours played in April alone.

Despite several competitors in the battle royale genre, Epic Games’ Fortnite is still going strong. Developer Epic Games announced in a new tweet that it has over 350 million registered players. In April 2020, players notched up over 3.2 billion hours in-game.

While this doesn’t give an accurate representation of daily or monthly active users, the engagement is still simply incredible. After the success of the recent Astronomical event with Travis Scott, Epic Games will have the Party Royale Premiere on May 8th. Taking place at 9 PM EST, it will have players attending performances by Steve Aoki, deadmau5 and Dillon Francis.

Party Royale is a new playlist that Fortnite will receive where players simply hang out together without any combat or building. Among the stage shows, there will be obstacles courses, boat races and new items to play with like the Paint Launcher. We’ll see how successful this pseudo-social space is when Party Royale goes live tomorrow.

Try as one might, instinct overrules all reason in some multiplayer games.

What is it about multiplayer games? No, we don’t mean what is it about the genre that attracts so many developers. But what is it about multiplayer games that can cause us players to do things ranging from the bizarre to the downright evil? Whatever the deeper cosmic reason may be, let’s take a look at the 15 things that we just can’t resist doing in multiplayer games.

Friendly Fire

We can’t really resist doing this in single-player games either. But sometimes, we just really have to know. Can our teammates go down in a cursing mess after too many bullets? Will the game boot you for it? Will your teammates boot you for it? You can also suffer a penalty to money (which is bad) or be killed in the next round and not play (which, hey, free carry).
