Unlike many annual sports titles MotoGP developer Milestone strive for meaningful improvement with every iteration, and MotoGP 24 is the biggest leap between versions since the Italian studio took over in 2013. Principal of these changes are bike physics, especially the feel of the rear brakes into corners and the stability of the 2-wheeler as you accelerate out. Competition is fiercer too: adaptive AI and penalties dished out from stewards to any rider on track – not just the player – fosters centimetre-close, front-wheel-to-rear-wheel racing.

Milestone’s Hot Wheels Unleashed in particular was a fan favourite upon its launch in 2021, having sold over 2 million units as of earlier this year, and it seems there might be more of that in the pipeline.

According to a report published on Dealabs by prominent leaker billbil-kun, Italian developer Milestone is working on a sequel to the 2021 game, titled Hot Wheels Unleashed 2 Turbocharged, that’s set to be announced in the near future. It’s uncertain whether the game will be available for PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch, which means there’s a good chance it ends up being current-gen exclusive.

The game will also allegedly come with three editions available, according to the leak, with a Deluxe Edition also packing in a season pass and four DLC packs, and an Ultimate Edition coming with two season passes and eight DLC packs. Pre-ordering the former will net you two additional DLC packs, while pre-ordering the latter will come with four.

Though a specific date for that announcement hasn’t been mentioned in the leak, one would assume that with a number of major showcases and events coming up – with Summer Game Fest set for June 8 and Xbox Games Showcase for June 11 – the racing sequel’s unveiling might be around the corner, especially if concrete details on its editions and pre-orders have leaked as well.

Players have spent 939 years in-game with over 1.3 million pieces of user-generated content. Out of the numerous vehicles available, the Hot Wheels Twin Mill 2021 was the most used vehicle.

Hot Wheels Unleashed is available for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, PC, PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch. Check out our review here. February 2nd marks the arrival of Darkest Dungeon, the punishing rogue-like turn-based RPG, which will be playable on consoles, cloud and PC. Codemasters’ GRID Legends is out on the same day via the cloud on EA Play, while Hot Wheels Unleashed – Game of the Year Edition arrives on February 7th for consoles, cloud and PC.

In addition, these four titles will be leaving the service on January 31st. Play them now while you can:

Starting from October 4 until October 31, PS Plus will have three free games on offer- Milestone’s acclaimed arcade racing game Hot Wheels Unleashed, NeatherRealm Studios’ superhero fighting title Injustice 2, and indie fan-favourite first person shooter Superhot. These will, of course, be available to subscribers of all tiers- Essential, Extra, and Premium.

That means subscribers have until October 3 to redeem last month’s games for free- Granblue Fantasy Versus, Need for Speed Heat, and TOEM. Meanwhile, Sony says the lineup of games to be added to the Extra and Premium tiers for October will be revealed in the coming days, so stay tuned for those details.

The Looney Tunes crossover expansion will be featuring a total of 5 new vehicles, new customization items for Basement and Player’s Profile, an aptly-themed Builder Module, and a new environment themed around the classic animated series. Set to release on July 14th, the Looney Tunes crossover expansion is available for purchase either directly or through Hot Wheels Pass Vol. 3, which will also include a total of 9 vehicles, 3 themed customization packs, and 3 track builder modules.

The first batch of games in those three categories has now been revealed (courtesy of SteamDB), and there are some interesting names in each list. The list of Unsupported games is a pretty short one with just 5 games, though it does have one notable name- Persona 4 Golden. The game’s own page says that Valve is still working on adding support though, so hopefully this won’t be permanent. 

24 games so far have the Playable tag. The list includes the likes of The Witcher 3, Slay the Spire, Inscryption, Subnautica, Valheim, Tomb Raider, Rise of the Tomb Raider, NieR: Automata, Bravely Default 2, and more. That means that right now, these games are playable on the Steam Deck, but might still run into a few issues here and there. 

Finally, there’s the first batch of Steam Deck Verified games, which lists 38 titles right now and is already looking impressive. Games that have already been fully optimized for the upcoming handheld device include the likes of Portal 2, Celeste, Hollow Knight, Dishonored, Cuphead 2, Psychonauts 2, Dark Souls 2, Dark Souls 3, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, Death’s Door, Death Stranding, Mad Max, Scarlet Nexus, Aliens: Fireteam Elite, Hot Wheels Unleashed, the upcoming Total War: Warhammer 3, and many others.

Today developer Milestone announced via a press release that the game had topped 1 million sales across both physical and digital releases. It marks also the fastest-selling title in Milestone’s history, which includes other racing series such as Ride and MotoGP. While giving no specifics about the future, the company also signaled that more content and support would be coming well into 2022.

The Batman Expansion adds, as its name suggests, Batman-themed items and tracks to the mix. There’s a new level themed around the Batcave, which can, of course, be used for creating custom track as wells. There are 5 new vehicle additions to the game too- The Penguin, Robin 2.0T, Armored Batman, Batman Rebirth, and The Joker GT, alongside other customization items.

Hot Wheels Unleashed‘s Batman Expansion is available right now across all platforms for $15. Those who already own the Hot Wheels Volume 1 package will get access to the expansion for free. Milestone already has a ton of plans for the game for the future, and as such. players can expect similar expansions to roll out in the near future.

41% of its sales came on the PS4, followed by 27% on the Xbox One, and 23% on the PS5. Surprisingly, the Nintendo Switch version – which is another Legacy Edition – sold more than the Xbox Series X in terms of physical sales, with the former making up 5% of the sales and the latter 4%. 

Another new entry in the charts is Sonic Colors Ultimate, which finally saw its physical European release following a delay. The remaster takes the No. 3 spot, with 53% sales coming from the Nintendo Switch, 32% from PS4, and 15% on Xbox One. At No. 4 is Hot Wheels Unleashed, with a solid debut that saw 39% sales on the PS5, 27% on the Switch, 14% on the PS4, 11% on Xbox One, and 8% on Xbox Series X/S.
