The company behind the recent Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Realms of Ruin has three management-styled games in the works.

In light of reports of recently-released strategy game Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Realms of Ruin under-performing for publisher Frontier Developments, the company has revealed that it plans on refocusing its development and publishing efforts on what it refers to as creative management simulation (CMS) games.

“Frontier’s move to diversify its game portfolio during the last five years, including through third-party publishing and new games in ‘adjacent genres’, has not delivered the anticipated success,” said the company in its business update. “As a result, the Company has refocused on CMS games which have delivered stronger and more predictable returns through Frontier’s expertise and leadership in that genre.”

For context, management-styled games like Planet Coaster, Planet Zoo, Jurassic World Evolution, and Jurassic World Evolution 2 are what Frontier Developments considers falling under the CMS umbrella. According to the company’s development update, all four of these games were able to make a profit within a month of release, and over the next year, were able to make a 100 percent return on investment.

“All four games achieved profitability within one month of release and delivered over 100% return on investment within 12 months of release,” it said. “The three games which have been in the market for four years or longer – Planet Coaster, Jurassic World Evolution, and Planet Zoo – have all achieved a cumulative return on investment of over 250%.”

As part of its new focus on management-styled games, Frontier Developments has revealed that it plans on releasing three more games down the line over the next three financial years—one game for each financial year. Despite the performance of Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Realms of Ruin, the company plans on further support the title, as well as other games like Elite: Dangerous and the F1 Manager franchise.

The low sales of Realms of Ruin have reduced the company’s expected revenue for the current financial year. However, the company has stated that it is looking to the next financial year in order to break even in revenue thanks to continued support of its preexisting games, as well as the release of the planned CMS title.

“The Board expects Frontier to at least break even in FY25 through the ongoing performance of the existing portfolio of games, revenue contributions from future releases including the CMS game scheduled for FY25, and the 20% operating cost reductions from the Organisational Review,” it said about its plans with future management games.

Microsoft has announced its first wave of titles coming to Xbox Game Pass this February, starting with Ghost of a Tale (PC) along with Project Winter and The Falconeer (Android, PC, console) on February 4th. Project Winter serves as a nice alternative to Among Us, especially with its survival mechanics. The Falconeer, meanwhile, was a decent launch title for Xbox Series X/S especially with its aesthetics.

On February 11th, Square Enix’s Final Fantasy 12: The Zodiac Age (console and PC) and Frontier’s Jurassic World Evolution (Android and console) arriv on the service. The underrated Stealth Inc. 2: A Game of Clones (Android and console) is also available on the same. Wolfenstein: Youngblood for Android rounds out the list.

Thankfully, not too many games are leaving this month. De Blob and Ninja Gaiden 2 are leaving from the console side along with World of Horror on PC from February 15th. Cult classic Shadows of the Damned will be gone on February 16th. Stay tuned for more details on other Game Pass announcements later this month.

Let an army of dinos loose on your guests, now on the go.

Jurassic World Evolution: Complete Edition is out today on Nintendo Switch, bringing its dino park management simulator to audiences on the go. The Complete Edition includes the base game itself (of course), on top of all the expansions – Secrets of Dr. Wu, Claire’s Sanctuary, and Return to Jurassic Park – as well as all four Dinosaur Packs and the Raptor Squad Skin Collection. Check out its launch trailer below.

Jurassic World Evolution will be making some cutbacks on the Switch, of course. For instance, the game will allow a maximum of 100 dinosaurs in a park at a time (which is still a lot). Meanwhile, touch screen controls are not supported.

Jurassic World Evolution is also available on PC, PS4, and Xbox One. In our review of the game, we called it “the dinosaur management game we’ve been dreaming of for years, but never quite believed we’d ever get the chance to play”.
The UI will be brought over as is, developer confirms.

Jurassic World Evolution: Complete Edition was recently announced for the Nintendo Switch, and as fans of the game would tell you, that’s a pretty perfect combination (which should have happened much earlier, if you ask me). As a park management simulator and a UI-heavy experience, you’d expect that the game would be making use of the Nintendo Switch’s touch screen functionality. That, apparently, won’t be the case.

Speaking in an interview with The Sixth Axis, game director Rich Newbold confirmed that the game won’t be using touch screen controls on the Switch, and will instead be using the same UI that it did on the PS4 and Xbox One when it launched on them a couple years ago.

“We don’t use the touchscreen functionality,” Newbold said. “We looked at it and the possibilities it could add to the game, and we just felt it was changing too much of the moment to moment stuff and that might affect the direct control where you’re aiming the ACU’s and the ranger teams. If we added it to the UI menus, we’d have to redesign all of those UIs, and that would take away from the experience if you’re playing it on your TV.”

“So we wanted it to be an equivalent experience in both versions,” he added, “and also to what the gameplay and features are on existing platforms as well, to have a parity of experience across all our communities.”

Given how surprisingly good and intuitive the UI in the console versions of the game is, I don’t expect this will be much of a problem. Meanwhile, Newbold also confirmed that the Switch version will be making some sacrifices to ensure that steady performance can be maintained. To be more specific, on the Switch, Jurassic World Evolution will allow you to have a maximum of 100 dinosaurs in your park at a time. On PC and consoles, the game placed no cap on the same.

“We’ve tried to make decisions so that for the end user the experience is still exactly the same,” Newbold said. “The audio quality and the visuals are as strong as possible. We have had to make some changes and limit the number of dinosaurs you can have, so there’s a cap of 100 dinosaurs at once in a single park, and we’ve done that compromise to make sure that the frame rate is as high as possible, but obviously that’s still quite a lot of dinosaurs!”

“We added that cap in so that, even if you hit that, the player experience is still as high as possible,” he added. “That’s one of the few compromises that we’ve made in terms of the gameplay. A lot of the others are changing the solutions that we use to tackle the technical challenges and rendering solutions we use on consoles.”

Jurassic World Evolution: Complete Edition will release for the Nintendo Switch on November 3, and will include all post-launch DLC and expansions along with the base game. You can read our review of Jurassic World Evolution through here.

Frontier Developments’ park management simulator Jurassic World Evolution launched a couple of years ago and was basically a dream come true for dino fans all over the world. It saw great success as well, and now, it’ll be opening the door for more players to experience it. At Gamescom Opening Night Live, it was announced that it will be coming to the Switch.

Jurassic World Evolution: Complete Edition is coming to the Switch on November 3 this year, and as its name suggests, it will include all content of the game released so far. That means the base game, its three expansions – Secrets of Dr. Wu, Claire’s Sanctuary, and Return to Jurassic Park – as well as all four Dinosaur Packs and the Raptor Squad Skin Collection.

One would imagine that there will be some graphical downgrades made to the game, and that definitely seems to be the case based on the trailer, but that isn’t something Frontier have explicitly talked about. Take a look below.

Frontier Developments have been supporting Jurassic World Evolution with some pretty meaty expansions since the game’s launch last year, and its biggest and most exciting expansion is out now. The recently announced Return to Jurassic Park expansion is available now for owners of the base game on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.

As the name suggests, this DLC – which costs $19.99 / €19.99 / £15.99 – takes players back to the original location of the Jurassic Park from the first film, Isla Nublar, with seven new story missions, as well as the film’s trio of protagonists – Alan Grant, Ian Malcolm (who was also in the base game), and Ellie Sattler – being featured as well. The three of them are voiced by their original actors, Sam Neill, Jeff Goldblum (who was, again, also in the base game), and Laura Dern respectively.

The DLC also includes park designs, characters, and dinosaurs from the first film, as well as new skins from the original movie for older dinosaurs. Players can also experience existing challenge and sandbox levels in the base game with UI and overlay themed around the 1993 movie. Check out its launch trailer below.

Jurassic World Evolution was already an excellent game full of fan service for fans of the property when it first launched last year, and in the time since then, Frontier Developments have only made it meatier with additional content. Soon, though, it will be getting its most interest DLC – certainly for fans of the movies.

Frontier have announced the Return to Jurassic Park DLC, which, as the name gives away, will take you back to the original park from the original movie that came out in 1993 (you know, the best one in the series). Players will return to Isla Nublar and Isla Sorna, with park designs, characters, and dinosaurs from the first film making a return. These characters will include the original iconic trio, namely Dr. Alan Grant, Dr. Ian Malcom, and Dr. Ellie Sattler. They will, pleasantly enough, be voiced by their original actors- Sam Neill, Jeff Goldblum (who was also in the base game), and Laura Dern respectively.

The DLC will include seven new story missions, as well as new skins from the original movie for older dinosaurs. Meanwhile, players will also be able to play all existing challenge and sandbox levels in the game with UI and overlay themed around the 1993 movie.

Return to Jurassic Park will launch on December 10, and will be priced at $19.99 / €19.99 / £15.99.

Jurassic World Evolution is currently available on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.

You’d think with the massive success of Jurassic World that we’d be seeing more dinosaurs popping up in video games, but alas, it seems the scaled terrors haven’t had their renaissances in that medium, yet. But those wanting some dinosaur action have Jurassic World Evolution, the simulation game based on the popular franchise, and today the game is getting even more new content with a new story DLC and some free updates.

The game has been quite the success and has seen various updates since its release. Now it’s getting an update which includes a full story campaign where you must try and save dinosaurs from an impending volcanic eruption. It also adds new dinosaurs, items, and Paleobotany mechanics to research and grow new plants. Along with the paid DLC, a free update will come that will include new scenery options, Gyrosphere improvements, and new care options for Spinosaurids. You can find out more here.

Jurassic World Evolution is available now for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. The DLC campaign, Claire’s Sanctuary, is available on all platforms for £12.99 / $14.99.

The dinosaurs are ready for their close up shot.

Jurassic World Evolution is ready for another major update in adding a much anticipated feature, Capture Mode. The mode will greatly expand the capabilities of the photo mode that already exists in the game. Capture Mode will allow you to simulate the best pictures possible of the highly detailed dinosaur models in Jurassic World Evolution. Now players can hide the UI, choose between a variety of aspect ratios, slow down time, and edit the camera angle to get your perfect dino pics.

It’s a new level for the game’s photo mode, and that means a lot to players who have spent a grand total of 4,600 days taking photos of their dinosaurs in the game. You can imagine that number is going to jump up with the new Capture Mode.

Jurassic World Evolution is available now for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. Capture Mode will release April 17th free of charge to all players and will come along with some minor fixes as well.
