Legends of Runeterra has kicked off its newest expansion, Worldwalker, bringing with it four new champions, and a refresh of the PvE mode.

Legends of Runeterra‘s Worldwalker expansion is now live. The expansion introduces four new champions, new keywords on cards, over 65 new cards, and The Path of Champions 2.0.

The flagship feature of Worldwalker is The Path of Champions 2.0, expanding the PvE mode that was originally released back in November. The Path of Champions 2.0 introduces new regions, including Noxus, Demacia, Piltover, Zaun, Ionia, and Bilgewater.

The Path of Champions 2.0 now also features permanent progression systems, including Legend Levels that power up a player’s entire champion roster, Champion Star Levels, which grant champions unique abilities and unlock new parts of their personal adventures, and revamped Champion Levels.

Worldwalker‘s new champions are Jhin, Annie, Bard, and Illaoi. Jhin is the game’s first Runeterran champion. Annie will be bringing her stuffed bear Tibbers along with her to Legends of Runeterra. Bard, the second Runeterran champion, uses musical allies to buff other cards. Illaoi is able to summon tentacles to smash the opponent’s Nexus.

The new keywords coming to Legends of Runeterra with Worldwalker are Spawn, and Boons. Cards with Spawn can grow tentacles to increase their power. Boons are essentially a new take on traps, but the press release essentially describes Boons as positive effects. Boons can be attached to cards in a deck, activating them when drawn.

Along with Worldwalker, Legends of Runeterra is also kicking off its Pulefire event, which comes with new high-tech emotes, guardians, and card backs, culminating in an exclusive Pulsefire Akshan skin.

Riot officially reveals League of Legends' upcoming support role champion, the Chem-Baroness from Zaun, Renata Glasc.

This has been a busy year for Riot Games when it comes to League of Legends. With the new ADC champion Zeri releasing a couple of weeks back, things have been shaken up in the world of Runeterra. It seems the developers are not yet done shaking things and metas up though, as they recently officially unveiled their next champion for the MOBA.

Called Renata Glasc, she hails from Zaun, just like Zeri. However, Renata is a Chem-Baroness, and her abilities revolve around her status in the world of Runeterra. The new character was unveiled through a new champion trailer showcasing her gameplay kit in action against opponents in various lanes.

The upcoming champion is going to belong primarily to the support role if the abilities showcased in the trailer are anything to go by. In one scenario, Renata is shown to resurrect one of the champions for a while, where said champion deals damage to an opponent, which also heals up a revived ally completely if they can take down an opponent in that state. Similarly, Renata can shield allies and slow down opponents, and her ultimate sends the enemy team into a frenzy.

Renata is planned to be added with patch 12.4, which is scheduled to release on February 14. Riot Games have also revealed Renata’s ability kit through their official website. Clearly, she is shaping up to be a game-changing support character for League of Legends, at least if proper co-ordination is maintained between players.

Check out the new trailer introducing Renata for League of Legends down below.

Riot finally reveals League of Legends' upcoming bot lane AD Carry, the Zaun-based vigilante Zeri, through a new Champion trailer.

Riot Games has finally revealed the trailer for their upcoming League of Legends champion Zeri, after announcing that the upcoming champion would get delayed to 2022. The trailer shows her fending off the Chem-Baron thugs who have been harassing an individual, making it pretty obvious that she is a vigilante character in Zaun, just like the champion Ekko.

As previously mentioned in the September 2021 roadmap by Riot Games, Zeri was meant to release at the end of 2021, tying up to an event, which seemed to be the Riot X Arcane event. Unfortunately, the release was delayed and pushed into 2022 along with an upcoming support character, which is yet to be revealed.

The upcoming champion for League of Legends will be a bot lane character of the AD Carry classification and her toolset looks pretty similar to existing champions in the roster, such as a dash, which seems to be pretty similar to the League of Legends champion Vayne, and the ability to jump over the wall, which is similar to the champion Talon.

Riot Games had a great year with the League of Legends universe, as the company revealed last year that the playerbase for the game reached a collective of 180 million active userbase.

Check the trailer for the upcoming League of Legends champion Zeri down below.

Riot has officially announced that the League of Legends games have collectively reached a total of 180 million active players.

Riot Games has recently revealed that it has reached a total of 180 million active players across all games set in the League of Legends universe. The company announced this via a Twitter post, which you can check out below. For context, Steam has a 120 million monthly active user base.

Riot Games has confirmed in a statement to PC Gamer that these figures are the collective sum of monthly active players League of Legends, League of Legends: Wild Rift, Legends of Runeterra, Teamfight Tactics, and Fight for the Golden Spatula. The terminology implies active monthly users who have played at least one of the aforementioned games in the calendar month of October. If one user players two games, they’ll be counted as two users.

Riot explains: “Monthly active users (‘MAUs’) are defined as the number of players who accessed a game, and in this case, the calendar month of October. A player who accesses two of our games would be counted as two users.”

While Riot’s League of Legends games have been a massive success for a number of years, the total userbase is still surprisingly large for just a handful of games. With Riot continuing to update its games in a timely fashion, it seems that the publisher will keep its momentum going forward.

Thank you to our global community for helping Runeterra reach new heights! 180 million players in October and still growing! pic.twitter.com/7w9goYBeBM

The digital CCG will launch with 400 cards, more than 120 of them being new.

After spending some time in open beta, Riot Games’ Legends of Runeterra has a release date. The digital CCG will become available on April 30th and have more than 400 cards in total. Over 120 new cards are being introduced, which will be available to test in the beta on April 28th.

Acting as competition to the likes of Hearthstone, Legends of Runeterra makes a few notable quality of life changes. Cards are doled out pretty generously and while you can spend real money to unlock more, it’s entirely possible to earn currency to acquire the same. Early impressions have been positive thus far.

Those hopping in from the open beta will see their progress carry over into the full release, so any cards unlock will be accessible. Following the game’s launch, a Moonstruck Poro Guardian can be acquired by anyone who plays before May 7th. Stay tuned for more details on Legends of Runeterra in the coming months.

Even with so many big console releases, the year is fairly strong for PC titles.

There are so many exciting games coming out over the next several months, from console exclusives to multiplatform titles. PC players shouldn’t feel left out though – there a number of titles coming specifically to the platform in the coming months. Whether it’s that port of that one Hideo Kojima game or several classics returning, here are the 15 biggest PC games slated for 2020.

Warcraft 3: Reforged

The classic RTS returns with heavily revamped visuals and cutscenes, new features and several balance changes. Warcraft 3: Reforged offers the base game along with The Frozen Throne, packing in tons of heroes and faction units, some redone campaign maps and numerous user-created games. While the jury is out on how some of the balancing will work, seeing Arthas’s betrayal in glorious 4K will be quite the experience. Warcraft 3: Reforged releases on January 28th for PC.

League of Legends developer Riot Games announced a number of new projects last year including competitive FPS Project A and fighting game Project L. Digital CCG Legends of Runeterra was also announced and made available in closed beta to select players. This month, the title will officially enter open beta on PC.

The beta will start on January 24th at 11 AM PST. Those who pre-register their account before January 20th can access it one day early. Along with accounts no longer being reset, Ranked Mode will also be introduced and follows LoL’s system of tiers. A friends list, new boards, the ability to challenge a friend and more will also become available.

Check out design director Andrew Yip and executive producer Jeff Jew discuss it in the video below. It may be some time before Legends of Runeterra officially launches worldwide for PC and mobiles but this will be a major milestone towards that goal. Stay tuned for more details in the meantime.

Craft a deck from scratch and upgrade it with random cards after each battle.

Riot Games’ Legends of Runeterra will have a special preview today for its Expeditions Mode. The preview starts at 8 AM PST and will be available until November 19th. Check out the trailer below for a short primer on how the mode works.

Expeditions Mode sees players creating a deck and upgrading it as they progress. You’ll remove cards and add new ones from a random assortment of units and champions. Some cards will be completely random while others may work well with your current selection. To reach the final battle, you’ll need to win six times but losing two battles will end the Expedition.

The more you win, the greater the rewards. Expeditions can be accessed three times per week with Shards, Coins or Expedition Tokens. Players will start out with an Expedition Token and 8,000 Shards during the preview along with some bonus cards to get them going. The preview will also see updates to current cards so stay tuned for more information. Legends of Runeterra launches in 2020 for PC and mobiles.
