Allegedly planned for the same week as Super Mario Bros.' 40th Anniversary, Nintendo may also finally date Metroid Prime 4.

Despite hosting a dedicated Direct for Kirby Air Riders, Nintendo will allegedly host another in mid-September. VGC’s sources corroborated that one is reportedly planned following recent rumors about the same.

Of course, as the publication notes, there’s been a Nintendo Direct in September for the past several years (2024 excluded). Interestingly, September 13th is the anniversary of Super Mario Bros., which celebrates its 40th this year, so potential announcements could be in store.

Then again, it’s also possible that Nintendo finally announces a release date for Metroid Prime 4. Recently rated by the ESRB, the long-awaited sequel from Retro Studios is coming later this year for Nintendo Switch 1 and 2. It follows bounty hunter Samus Aran as she travels to a new planet, Viewros, and gains new powers.

Furthermore, it’s the first title in the series to support mouse controls on the Nintendo Switch 2. Head here for more details, including how the Switch 2 version’s Quality Mode works.

The Direct could take place during the final week of July ahead of Nintendo announcing its earnings for the latest fiscal quarter.

After hosting a dedicated Direct last month for Donkey Kong Bananza, Nintendo allegedly has another on the way. According to insider NateTheHate, it will go live after Bananza’s launch, potentially the last week of the month before Nintendo reveals its latest earnings reports.

While the contents of the Direct are unknown, it’s possible that we could see more from Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, which is launching this year. Pokemon Legends: Z-A will doubtless receive more details at Pokemon Presents on July 22nd, but a new trailer isn’t out of the question. There may even be release dates for titles like Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment, Kirby Air Riders, and so on.

Of course, with Hollow Knight: Silksong arriving before the Xbox Ally’s launch and the latter rumored for launch in late October, a new trailer wouldn’t be too surprising. Then again, it could very well appear at Gamescom during Xbox’s shows. As always, stay tuned for more details.

Donkey Kong Bananza is out on July 17th for Nintendo Switch 2. It’s been in development since 2017, having started as a Switch title. Check out our feature for more details.

The presentation will run for 30 minutes and highlight upcoming Switch titles for 2025, though it won't have any Switch 2 news.

Nintendo is hosting a Direct next week, April 2nd, focused on the heavily-anticipated Switch 2. However, before that, it confirmed a separate Nintendo Direct for March 27th at 7 AM PST.

As announced by Nintendo of America, the Direct is about 30 minutes long and focuses on upcoming Switch titles in 2025. It won’t offer any updates about the Nintendo Switch 2, which makes sense given next week’s imminent Direct.

What could be showcased tomorrow? Falcom and GungHo Online Entertainment may officially announce the release date for Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter, which Canadian retailer Video Games Plus listed for September 25th on its website. Team Cherry’s Hollow Knight: Silksong could also appear due to the recent updates to its Steam page and GeForce Now support.

Insider NateTheHate also reported last December that Kirby: Planet Robobot could get a Nintendo Switch version for launch later this year. As always, time will tell, so stay tuned for more details.

Full details on the recently-revealed Switch 2 are coming in April, but games for its predecessors are also allegedly set to be shown soon.

Nintendo has finally officially announced the Switch 2, and obviously, the new console will be what the company will be primarily focused on going forward. Interestingly enough, however, the original, current Switch is seemingly not out of fuel just yet, with more details on its upcoming titles allegedly set to be shared soon.

Taking to the Famiboards forums shortly after the Switch 2’s announcement, prominent Nintendo leaker PH Brazil claimed that another Nintendo Direct presentation is also coming in February. The same was recently also stated by known leaker NateTheHate on his podcast, where he also stated that the Direct would be focused on upcoming games for the Nintendo Switch, not its successor.

Donkey Kong Country Returns HD has released for the Switch, and it’s set to be joined by several other first-party titles officially scheduled to launch for the platform sometime this year. That includes Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, and Pokemon Legends: Z-A.

A Direct presentation in February, should one actually happen, will likely bring new looks at all of those games. Pokemon, however, is likely to skip the show, as it usually does, especially with a Pokemon Presents showcase also allegedly coming in the same month.

The two presentations will be livestreamed back-to-back for a total of roughly 40 minutes, and Nintendo says you shouldn't expect any Switch 2 news.

Gamescom has officially wrapped up, but though Nintendo didn’t have a presence at the event this year, the Japanese company does still have announcements to make- and imminently.

Taking to Twitter, Nintendo has announced an upcoming double feature. Tomorrow, August 27, will see the company livestreaming an Indie World Showcase, which will be followed directly by a Nintendo Direct Partner Showcase. The back-to-back presentations will kick off at 7 AM PT, and will be roughly 40 minutes long in total.

You can probably expect plenty of third party announcements, indie and otherwise, though it remains to be seen whether anything particularly major comes up. Presumably, Hollow Knight: Silksong fans will be hoping for news, but at this point, it’s hard to be sure when exactly that game is going to re-emerge. One thing we do know is that news will not be shared on the Nintendo Switch successor, which, as previously confirmed, is set to be announced sometime before April next year.

The showcase will last roughly 40 minutes and focus on Nintendo Switch titles launching in the second half of this year.

After confirming a Nintendo Direct for this month, Nintendo has announced it will take place tomorrow, June 18th. Airing at 7 AM PT, the showcase will last “roughly” 40 minutes and focus on Nintendo Switch titles launching in the second half of this year. The Nintendo Switch’s successor, to be revealed by March 31st, 2025, won’t be mentioned.

As for the titles it could potentially reveal, the popular pick is Hollow Knight: Silksong. Following numerous ratings this year and an Xbox Store listing, fans expected an appearance at Summer Game Fest, if not the Xbox Games Showcase. Obviously, it showed up at neither, so this could be the final chance for fans at their wits’ end.

It’s probably more reasonable to expect appearances by Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD (out later this month), FANTASY LIFE i: The Girl Who Steals Time, Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition, and Rift of the NecroDancer. Time will tell, so stay tuned for further announcements tomorrow.

Rumors continue to mount about Nintendo hosting a new Direct presentation in September, though what kind is unknown

Despite hosting a Direct for Super Mario Bros. Wonder, Nintendo is rumored to host a more traditional Nintendo Direct this month. Citing “anonymous and reliable” sources, Universo Nintendo said it should occur between September 11th and 15th. It’s unknown whether this will be a Direct Mini or a general Direct.

The website does have a track record of sorts, as it correctly reported on Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope having a separate gameplay reveal last year. However, this adds credence to other sources claiming a Direct in September. Giant Bomb’s Jeff Grubb reported that it would occur around the same time as the Nintendo Live in Seattle this past weekend.

While it didn’t happen, insider NateTheHate said it’s happening “soon-ish.” The publisher has scheduled a Direct for almost every September over the past ten years – it wouldn’t be the strangest occurrence. As always, we’ll need to wait for an official announcement from Nintendo, so stay tuned in the coming week.

It's been claimed that Nintendo has a Direct presentation planned for September this year, as it does most years.

Though Nintendo doesn’t necessarily follow a concrete schedule for its Direct presentations, every year, they do tend to follow the same general pattern, if with a few minor deviations here and there. For instance, we generally do see Nintendo Directs in the month of September every year, and it looks like 2023 will be no different on that front.

That’s according to journalist Jeff Grubb, who recently said on an episode of his Last of the Nintendogs podcast that a Nintendo Direct presentation is indeed planned for September this year, as is usually the case most years. According to Grubb, it will happen around the same time as the Nintendo Live fan event in Seattle, which is scheduled for September 1-4.

Even though the Nintendo Switch is in the seventh year of its lifecycle, the Japanese company will likely still have plenty to show at a September Direct, if one does happen. Super Mario Bros. Wonder is set to release in October, with Super Mario RPG Remake arriving the following month, while Nintendo also has a Princess Peach game and a Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon remaster planned for sometime in 2024.

Grubb has also claimed that Metroid Prime 2: Echoes Remastered and a new Zelda release are coming soon, so there might be a chance that we end up hearing something official about those at the September Direct as well.

A leaker seems to be hinting at imminent announcements that Pokemon and Pikmin fans will want to keep an eye on.

True to rumours, Nintendo has confirmed that it will be streaming a Direct presentation later today, which is set to be a 40-minute long show with information on upcoming Switch titles. And as is always the case in the lead-up to a major event from pretty much any company, there’s no shortage of rumours about what we might get to see during the presentation.

@Pyoro_ND – a leaker who has started becoming prominent only recently, thanks to accurate leaks for a number of titles – has been teasing out quite a few of those aforementioned rumours, having recently claimed that a new mainline 2D Mario game will be announced at the Direct. In addition to that, the leaker has seemingly dropped hints for a couple more announcements.

Courtesy of a tweet that contains a Detective Pikachu GIF, @Pyoro_ND has sparked speculation that Detective Pikachu 2 might finally get its official reveal. The game was confirmed to be in development as far back as 2019, and though there have been next to no updates on it since then, reports last year suggested that the game was “nearing release”.

Meanwhile, the leaker has dropped a separate tweet in another tweet, simply saying, “Everybody 1-2-Pikmin!” Though it might be referring to the recently-announced Everybody 1-2-Switch! and the upcoming Pikmin 4 (the latter of which is confirmed to be making an appearance at the Direct, with the former also likely to do so), it might instead be teasing a remastered launch for Pikmin 1 and 2. Pikmin 3 Deluxe is, of course, already available on the Switch.

Of course, it’s best to take this with a grain of salt for now, as is the case with any leak, especially ones that are this vague, though with the Direct coming up in just a few hours, at least we won’t be in the dark for too long.

There’s also a chance that the recently-announced Persona 3 Reload also gets confirmed for the Nintendo Switch, given the fact that Switch listings for the RPG remake have been spotted on retailer websites a few times now.

The roughly 40-minute presentation premieres at 7 AM PT and mainly focuses on Nintendo Switch titles launching this year, like Pikmin 4.

After various rumors, Nintendo has officially announced a new Nintendo Direct for tomorrow, June 21st. It premieres at 7 AM PT and features 40 minutes of details focused “mainly” on upcoming Nintendo Switch titles this year. Pikmin 4 is also getting some new information.

With Pikmin 4 out on July 21st for Switch, Nintendo could release a demo, with progress carrying over into the game. Of course, a new 2D Mario and the remake of a “classic” SNES title are rumored to appear. Dare we also hope for Metroid Prime 4, rebooted in January 2019 with Retro Studios at the helm? Time will tell. Also, following various retailer leaks, Atlus may finally announce Persona 3 Reload for the Nintendo Switch.

There’s also the slight of Team Cherry’s Hollow Knight: Silksong appearing. The highly-anticipated Metroidvania sequel was delayed past the first half of 2023. If ever a time to drop a new trailer and maybe announce a new release window, this would be it. Stay tuned for more details in the meantime.
