It hasn’t been an ideal week for Nintendo, what with a setback in its fight against Pocketpair and the Switch 2 getting a price hike. But whispers around a Nintendo Direct next month may help, with Giant Bomb’s Jeff Grubb claiming in a recent Twitch stream that he’s been hearing a lot about a mid-June window for the event.
Of course, we’d always urge you to wait for an official announcement. Still, given that most showcase events happen in June, and XBOX has already come forward with a date for its dedicated showcase, this is a strong possibility.
Grubb calculates that Nintendo might wait until after the upcoming Summer Games Fest before going ahead, but is unsure whether it’s focused on Nintendo’s own projects or a Partner Showcase. His claims have been backed by previous talk of a June event from NateTheHate, who also promised an update later this week.
We’re hoping to hear more about the remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time if this one turns out to be true, although the final lineup of games and the event’s final date are anybody’s guess at this point. We might even get more news about the rumored Nintendo Switch Sports, Splatoon Raiders, and more. We’re not going to hold our breath, but our fingers are definitely crossed.
