It is worth noting that the two Nioh games were able to reach this milestone while only being available on PC, PS4, and PS5. The game is not available on Xbox consoles, and according to series director Fumihiko Yasuda, it is unlikely that Xbox will get Nioh.

The first Nioh was originally released back in 2017 on PS4, eventually being released on PC the same year. Nioh 2, similarly, launched exclusively on PS4 in 2020, coming to PC almost an entire year after its original release.

Back in February, Team Ninja revealed that Nioh 2 alone had shipped over 2.5 million units, and the number has likely gone up since then. The franchise had originally hit the 6 million milestone last year.

Nioh and Nioh 2 are available on PC, PS4 and PS5, and Nioh 2 is headlining the PS Plus Essential lineup in November.

Nioh 2 is a follow-up to the original (though some parts take place before the first game’s story). It sees a new protagonist Hide who is half-yokai. While venturing across Sengoku Era Japan and hunts yokai, he constantly crosses paths with the antagonistic Kashin Koji.

Along with the same hack and slash combat as its predecessor, Nioh 2 introduces new Yokai Forms along with the Burst Counter for creating openings. It’s received several free updates and three paid DLC packs thus far. For more details on the base game, check out our review here. The criteria for getting selected for The Steam Awards every year is different from the usual game awards. The selection process for nomination starts from Steam Autumn Sales, and players get to choose their choice of the game by voting for it. Even though newer games get favored a little bit higher, older games are also eligible for the nominations in certain categories and some of the winners reflect the same.

The Labor of Love category, for instance, which shows support to the games still getting worked on after release went to Terraria. Apart from that, the bulk of winners for this year were mostly games that came out in 2021. You can check the whole list of winners down below.

God of War (2018)

Much of the God of War journey involves, well, a literal journey to honor Kratos’ wife Faye (with a dash of smacking down Baldr). But even after making the trek back home and seeing the “dream” with Thor, there’s still plenty to wrap up. Outside of collectibles, you could kill of the Valkyries including Sigrun, the toughest boss in the entire game; partake in the Impossible Trials of Muspelheim and master Niflheim’s poisonous arena; free all of the dragons; and reassemble the Gauntlet of Ages to wield Infinity Stone-esque power. New Game Plus adds even more content with new armor, talismans, enchantments and stronger versions of current armor.

Other sales figures include Winning Post 9 2021 with 80,000 units sold in Japan; Uncharted Waters 5 HD Remaster with 70,000 units sold in Asia; and Angelique Kuruminalize with 30,000 units sold in Asia. Overall, revenue is up by 80.4 percent year on year with download sales being up by 80.7 percent, followed by a 55.8 percent increase for mobile downloads and 45 percent increase for packaged sales.

Ninja Gaiden Master Collection is currently available for Xbox One, PS4, PC and Nintendo Switch. Despite a troubled launch on PC, recent updates have helped to improve the experience. Nioh 2 released last year for PS4 with the Complete Edition coming to PC and PS5 in February 2021.

Team Ninja has released a new update for Nioh 2 – The Complete Edition on PC, finally bringing control icons for those playing with keyboard and mouse. Simply head into the Keyboard and Mouse settings and toggle “Control Icons” to see them appear. Patch 1.27 also provides further improvements to frame rate performance which could degrade upon setting “Effect Quality” to high.

Those facing issues with Burst Counters against certain foes when playing at the 120 FPS cap should also see the problem fixed. Other fixes includes shadows being enabled in cutscenes even when it’s turned off in the graphical settings; an issue that made fog in some stages appear brighter; and an issue with facial expressions when using the “Dragon Ninja” transformation.

The first major patch for Nioh 2 – The Complete Edition on PC has rolled out and contains a number of welcome fixes. Along with providing players the option to remap the confirmation button, it also fixes some issues related to lock-on and mouse sensitivity. An issue that caused frame rate drops to occur when “Effects” was set to “High” has also been alleviated.

Of course, the frame rate issue hasn’t been completely fixed by Team Ninja continues to investigate its cause. One issue that prevented the selection of some resolutions and thus caused the game screen to be cut off has also been fixed. Check out the full update notes below.

Nioh 2 – The Complete Edition launched last week for PS4 and PC while The Nioh Collection arrived on PS5. Though the overall game has been praised, PC players reported a number of issues related to performance. One remaining issue involves the lack of keyboard button prompts when playing with mouse and keyboard – this will be addressed in a later patch so stay tuned.

• The confirmation button can now be changed from “Controls”.
• Fixed an issue where the lock-on target would switch when the mouse was moved, even if the “Move Camera/Switch Lock-On Target” setting was changed to an option other than “Move Mouse” in “Keyboard & Mouse Settings”.
• Fixed an issue where the mouse sensitivity could become so high that it became impossible to change the settings.
• Fixed an issue which sometimes prevented the selection of certain resolutions and caused the game screen to be cut off due to the Windows settings.
• Fixed an issue which made the game prone to crashing in certain environments.
• Fixed an issue that could cause the game to crash when displaying the descriptions of equipment special effects.
• Alleviated the issue where the frame rate tended to drop when “Effect Quality” was set to “High” in “Graphics Settings”. We are continuing to investigate and address this issue.
• Reduced the tendency for the game to run slowly when certain attacks hit the walls.
• Fixed an issue that caused black bars to appear on the left and right sides of the screen during multiplayer on ultra-wide monitors.

Much like the first game in the series, Nioh 2 saw a lot of post-launch DLC and a Complete Edition that launched last week for both PS4 and PC. The game is a solid follow up to the original Nioh that was largely acclaimed and sold very well. Unfortunately, it seems as if the PC version has had numerous issues. The publisher is aware of it and looks to fix it soon.

Via Steam, a message was sent to fans saying that Koei Tecmo and Team Ninja had heard the complaints about the PC port. There they assured people they were looking into things and would be addressing them in upcoming updates both this month and in March. Alongside that, they also promised integration of DLSS and adding mouse and keyboard prompts.

“We have heard your comments over the past few days about various issues found inside the game. We are taking all of your messages into account and are actively working on several updates planned to release during February and March to fix these issues.

The content of the upcoming updates include:
– Several bug fixes
– Improvement of the performance of the game via the integration of DLSS
– The addition of keyboard & mouse prompts”

Nioh 2 – The Complete Edition is available now on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4 and PC.

Koei Tecmo recently released its Q3 earnings for the 2021 fiscal year, revealing sales for its latest releases. It confirmed that Team Ninja’s Nioh 2 has surpasses 1.4 million global shipments since release. Even with three story DLC packs releasing throughout last year, repeat sales for the base game are still strong.

Atelier Ryza 2: Lost Legends and the Secret Fairy released in December for Japan and Asia and has sold 220,000 units. The original sold 500,000 copies within 11 months of its launch for the same regions. With the sequel launching tomorrow for PC, Nintendo Switch, PS4 and PS5 in North America and Europe, it remains to be seen just how much more it can sell.

Meanwhile, Koei Tecmo is also prepping for the release of Nioh 2 – The Complete Edition on PS4 and PC next week. It’s also releasing Nioh 2 Remastered – The Complete Edition and Nioh Remastered – The Complete Edition on PS5 with support for 4K and 120 FPS. Both titles can be purchased through The Nioh Collection on February 5th.

Along with announcing that Nioh 2 – The Complete Edition would be coming to PS4 and PC, Koei Tecmo also unveiled Nioh 2 Remastered – The Complete Edition, Nioh Remastered – The Complete Edition and The Nioh Collection for PS5. Nioh 1 and 2 Remastered include the base games with improved visuals and 4K support along with all DLC while The Nioh Collection comprises of both remasters. All of these titles are also out on February 5th 2021.

The remasters will support 4K resolution on the PS5 with “up to” 120 FPS gameplay, fast loading times and the ability to transfer one’s saves from the PS4. Current Nioh 2 owners on PS4 can upgrade to the PS5 version at no additional cost (which also applies to The Complete Edition). Standalone purchases for Nioh 2 Remastered and its DLC on PS5 is not an option.

Pre-orders for all of the above will go live on November 20th. Koei Tecmo also revealed that the final DLC for Nioh 2, The First Samurai, would be releasing on December 17th. Stay tuned for more details on the same, along with gameplay footage, in the coming months.
