Klei Entertainment’s Oxygen Not Included, a side-scrolling survival title with adorable graphics, has officially exited early access after more than two years of development. The PC version is now available, complete with numerous updates and quality of life changes over the years. Check out the launch trailer below.

In a recent forum post, the developer noted the title’s journey till now. “We started with a game that had little more than a few Duplicants and some pipes full of cold water,” they wrote. “Since then we’ve added oil biomes and automation, Duplicant skill progression and tubes to zip around in, critter ranching and breeding, and more features than could possibly be named. Now Duplicants can even break through the surface of their rocky home and escape away into space… with your guidance, of course.”

Oxygen Not Included will continue to receive patches for bugs and other issues in the meantime. Klei Entertainment will likely add new content in the future as well. After all, it’s other big survival property Don’t Starve continues to receive new DLC and expansions even now, despite first launching in 2013.

Next up for Klei is Griftlands, a card-based RPG where players can venture throughout a land with randomly generated events and encounters. Based on the cards in their deck, they can either fight or converse their way through danger. The game’s alpha is currently available on the Epic Games Store with a Steam Early Access release for the beta coming in 2020.

When the Epic Games Store announced its first major sale, it felt unreal. Several titles were discounted, but Epic was also providing $10 off on games that were above $14.99. For games like Metro Exodus, Hades, Satisfactory, and even Borderlands 3, it seemed amazing.

The problems started almost immediately. Paradox Interactive pulled Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 from sale, with an Epic Games representative telling Kotaku that it chose not to participate. “If a developer or publisher chooses to not participate in our sales, we will honor that decision,” the Epic rep said. “Paradox Interactive has chosen to not participate in the Epic Mega Sale and the game has been temporarily removed from sale. If you’ve purchased Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 during the period when the discount did apply at the time of check out, Epic will honor that price.”

Then there’s Hades, which was discounted and then increased and has since returned to its original price of $19.99. You can pick it up for $10, thanks to the Epic Games Store discount, but it will go up to $24.99 on June 14th when the sale ends. Other titles like Oxygen Not Included from Klei Entertainment were pulled without any explanation.

However, Gearbox’s Borderlands 3, perhaps the biggest reason to go through the Epic Games Store on PC, has also been hit. At first, pricing for the game’s various editions was removed and replaced with a “Coming Soon” tag (as seen by ResetEra’s LewieP). The game has  sincebeen completely removed from the site, likely to re-price it accordingly. All in all, what was supposed to be the first major sale on the Epic Games Store has turned into a huge mess. Stay tuned for more details in the coming days.

Last month we reported that the indie survival game, Oxygen Not Included, would leave early access sometime in May. Now it looks like we have a solid date for when that will be. The game’s developer, Klei Entertainment, announced today with a launch trailer that the game is getting ready to exit Steam Early Access on May 28^th. Oxygen Not Included originally launched in 2017 and has been in early access for over two years now.

The game is classified as a space colony simulation/survival title, and gameplay comes from managing teams of workers to go into an asteroid to mine, build, and repair. But your workers can starve, get ill, starve to death, and go mad. Despite the grim implications, the game has a colorful and cartoony art style, as well as humorous writing to offset the terrible things that can happen on your colony.

Oxygen Not Included will be out of early access May 28^th, and is currently discounted by 25% on Steam in anticipation for the final release. Watch its launch trailer below.

Don’t Starve developer Klei Entertainment may not have any information on Griftlands, but its latest survival title, Oxygen Not Included, will be getting a full release after two years in beta. Currently in Steam Early Access, the title will receive its 1.0 update in late May. This will add new creatures and buildings, along with three new biomes and mod support.

Before that, players can expect a quality of life update on April 16th. The developer will still make improvements and deploy bug fixes after launch, but you can expect most of the team to be working on DLC. The DLC will see the team “explore further ideas and expansions to ONI’s world.”

“All in all, it’s been a rather surreal journey for the team,” the developer wrote in its announcement. “The game is extremely intricate, with so many moving parts; when we first designed it, we weren’t sure how many people would be interested in embracing their inner scientist, but 1.5 million players later, we’re happy to say the experiment has worked out.”

Oxygen Not Included tasks players with creating a thriving space colony, from building living quarters for its Duplicants, to harvesting resources. As you extract more resources, you’ll need to keep expanding to keep the supply of oxygen going. Tasks like keeping Duplicants happy, managing environmental temperatures, exploring different power resources, and recycling wastes will also be important for survival. Of course, thanks to procedural generation, there are numerous possible worlds to explore.

Rust

Before people associated “building” and “killing random strangers in a wide-open map” with Fortnite, they were doing these things in Rust. Many of Rust’s structures can be fairly simple, usually ramps, ceilings, doors, gates and so on of different materials. However, these can be combined in different ways to craft absolute fortresses full of storage boxes with code locks, automated turrets, barricades and much more.

Star Citizen

Star Citizen is going to be amazing…when it’s finally done. Imagine a huge open universe to explore with large space ships (which you can captain), first person shooter levels with zero gravity, unique planets with their own culture and laws and of course, the freedom to do whatever. That’s not even taking the single-player component Squadron 42 into account which boasts hours of story and features high profile actors like Mark Hamill and Gillian Anderson.

Klei Entertainment of Don’t Starve and Invisible Inc. fame has a new game coming out in late 2016. Or early 2017, depending on various factors we suppose. It’s called Oxygen Not Included and that’s really all we know about it.

On the surface, it appears that Oxygen Not Included is a lot like Fallout Shelter. You start an underground colony of sorts and have to manage resources. Various things can go wrong it seems – some residents can drown. Some can probably run out of oxygen. We’re not really sure what’s going on and that seems to be a theme of the PC Gaming Show thus far.

Oxygen Not Included will be heading to the PC though it remains to be seen if it comes to the consoles like Xbox One and PS4 along with portables like PS Vita (much like Klei’s previous efforts). What are your thoughts on it? Let us know in the comments below.
