The remastered third-person shooter will be playable at PAX East later this month, from March 21 to 24, it's been confirmed.

Devolver Digital and Grasshopper Manufacture announced Shadows of the Damned Remastered in June last year, and the game is set to re-enter the limelight soon. For Grasshopper Manufacture has confirmed that its official title is going to be Shadows of the Damned: Hella Remastered. It’s also been confirmed that our first look at the game is not too far away.

Grasshopper Manufacture is coming to PAX East later this month, from March 21 to March 24, and it will be bringing a playable demo of Shadows of the Damned: Hella Remastered. Grasshopper Manufacture founder and CEO Goichi “Suda51” Suda will also be in attendance, while those who visit the developer’s booth will also be able to partake in other activities like a “manic” trivia quiz (with six winners winning a custom Shadows of the Damned ring), and blackjack with Suda51 (with all winners winning autographed Shadows of the Damned coasters).

There’s no word yet on when Shadows of the Damned: Hella Remastered will launch, but Grasshopper Manufacture has previously said that it will “probably” release for all “current” platforms.

More information will be provided on April 3rd.

After what seemed like forever, Gearbox Software have finally announced Borderlands 3. In development for roughly five years, it received a new trailer that showcases all the new stuff. Check it out below and try to keep track of all the different guns showcased.

Along with showcasing the new villains (who seem to be recruiting “Children of the Vault”), we see a number of familiar faces like Brick, Maya, Lilith, and a grown-up Tiny Tina. New worlds are teased, one of which seems to contain a futuristic city, while another has dinosaurs roaming around. Of course, the new classes – like the Siren Amara – are also showcased.

Guns are also a given in this trailer and we get a peak at one new class – guns that can walk. Yes, that’s actually a thing. Though a release date or window hasn’t been confirmed, more information will be revealed on April 3rd. Stay tuned for more info in the meantime.

It's coming to PC, Xbox One, PS4, and Switch, but no release date has been announced.

Shovel Knight developer Yacht Club Games recently teased a new game that would be revealed around PAX East time. Interestingly, it’s a title that the studio is publishing, and not developing. That game is Cyber Shadow, an 8-bit platformer developed by Mechanical Head Studios. Check out the first gameplay trailer below.

The setting sees our hero Shadow fighting through a world overrun by machines. He’ll have to slice and dice through Mekacity to rescue his clan-mates. With over a dozen bosses and new skills and abilities to learn, Cyber Shadow promises tons of secrets and a “gripping story” told in-game and via animated sequences.

Much like Yacht Club’s approach with Shovel Knight, Cyber Shadow seems to deliver on old-school action platforming with modern movement options. It doesn’t currently have a release date, but it will be coming to Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, PS4, and PC for $14.99. Stay tuned for more details on it in the coming days.

The image in the tease certainly looks pixelated enough to seem like it’s Switch.

Gearbox has shared a second tease for PAX East, and enterprising fans and/or people with eyes have pointed out that said tease is just a very blurry image of Borderlands 2. So they are teasing Borderlands 2? But what for? That game is a decade old, and already out on basically every system. It’s even out in VR! It’s out on everything except… hey, maybe they are teasing a Switch port of the game. The blurry image certainly looks in line with what we expect Switch games to look like, if nothing else.

Mind you, this is just a guess. It could well be a Borderlands 2 animated series (I would love to see this), or a mobile port. It could very well not be Borderlands 2, and just be made to look like that as a part of the whole deception for the tease. Who knows? But given that Borderlands on Switch has been a longstanding request, it’s easy to see why many assume this may have to do with that.

In either case, we’ll know next week.

Gearbox Software tweets a road sign with a familiar aesthetic.

Gearbox Software has been quite good at teasing Borderlands 3, its long-awaited sequel in the famous first person looter shooter franchise. Before stating that it would be announced “when it’s ready”, the developer had also teased reveals for PAX East. Now, in a recent tweet by the developer, a road sign with the signature Borderlands aesthetic simply states “March 28th, Boston MA”, which is when PAX East will take place.

It could be a way to hook fans in, only for something else to be showcased. Regardless, the next Borderlands has been in development for a while. Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford confirmed in September 2017 that a majority of the studio’s staff was busy with development of the title.

Even if it doesn’t release anytime soon, logic would dictate that there has to be some kind of tease, sooner or later. Maybe we’ll find out if the leaked character art has any legitimacy to it. How will Borderlands 3 fare in an industry where there’s tons more competition (like Tom Clancy’s The Division 2, which releases on March 15th)? Time will tell, so stay tuned for details.

Borderlands Easter eggs confirmed to be in Battleborn.

Though Gearbox Software hasn’t exactly been coy about development on a new Borderlands title, it hasn’t outright confirmed when said work will begin and whether the game will be called Borderlands 3.

As it turns out, during a panel at PAX East (via Eurogamer), Gearbox confirmed that the next Borderlands will go into development once work on Battleborn is finished. And it may not even be called Borderlands 3.

CEO Randy Pitchford said during the panel that there’s “going to be another Borderlands. We don’t even know if we’re going to call it [Borderlands 3]. We could call it Borderlands 4 for all we know.”

Battleborn art director Scott Kester and creative head Mikey Neumann have been confirmed for the art direction and writing, with the latter working on a new character in Scooter’s son. Pitchford also noted that Battleborn would have Borderlands Easter eggs with the DLC’s secrets pertaining to Borderlands 3.

“There’s already a lot of Borderlands Easter eggs in Battleborn. But they’re all from previous Borderlands games. So what if we put Easter eggs for future stuff in the DLC?”

Battleborn arrives on May 3rd for Xbox One, PS4 and PC so stay tuned for more details on the same.

Experience the Hangar and Arena Commander modules for this weekend.

Star Citizen will be at PAX East this weekend but for those who can’t experience it for themselves, developer Cloud Imperium is giving out free codes to access different modules for a limited time. Create a Star Citizen account on the official site, head here and use the code “PAXEASTFREEFLY2K15”.

The client itself lets you take part in the Hangar Module with an Anvil Hornet F7C. Arena Commander is also accessible and let’s you play with friends, fighting off waves of enemies. The pass code will be valid until March 15th and requires 20 GB of installation space.

Thus far, momentum behind Star Citizen has been phenomenal with the crowd-funding campaign raising more than $75 million thus far? The game has expanded significantly from an online space-sim to first person shooting and an increased scale overall. The first season of the single-player campaign Squadron 42 will be out later this year so stay tuned for more information.

Not much footage, though. Why? Just 'cause.

Just Cause 3 is a thing. I still can’t believe it. Just Cause 2 was one of the cult hit games of last generation, the open world sandbox growing in stature steadily from its initial lukewarm reception as the modding community gave it new life.

If you are at all excited about Just Cause 3, and are bummed out that you couldn’t see the PAX East presentation on the game – maybe you were not there and could not attend the convention in person, or maybe you failed to catch one of the many streams online – never fear! Here is the entire presentation for you, recorded so you can pursue it at your perusal.

However, fair warning- you won’t get to see too much of the game itself. Avalanche Studios said they are not ready to show much of the game itself just yet. They want to put some more polish on it before they feel confident enough to share it.

That said, it still makes for some potentially very interesting viewing.

Cliffy B talks about fast-paced movement in his upcoming arena shooter.

Former Epic Games designer Cliff Bleszinski, the man behind some of the most memorable shooters in history such as Unreal Tournament and Gears of War, was at PAX East with other members of his new studio Boss Key Productions to showcase the first footage of Project Bluestreak. Bluestreak will be an arena shooter and some of the environments were teased during the company’s panel. Check them out above.

Bleszinski also took the time to speak to PC Gamer via YouTube and talked about the fast paced movement of the game. “When you’re playing an FPS you’re not just using the mouse, you’re also using the keyboard to dodge, to jump, to leap, to flow through the world. Previously, working on the Gears of War franchise it was ‘stop and pop’ and it was cool, but there’s something about an FPS that you see the barrel of the gun, you have the right FOW and you want to just flow seamlessly throw the world.

“One thing about movement is, I always want the player to be able to shoot, get the right FOV, get the right acceleration and honestly the game that we’re building right now is extremely vertical, extremely fast paced and I think we’re actually going to have a hard time if we ever port it to consoles, ’cause it’s so crazy right now.”

Project Bluestreak will focus on making its frame rate “king” but even those with a low-end computer will be able to enjoy it. “We want high frame rate but we’re extremely good looking on Unreal Engine 4. Today we showed a little bit of footage, mostly environments. Frame rate is king, we need to make sure we can run it on a potato but that said, if you have a high end rig this thing needs to look good.”

Thoughts on Project Bluestreak? Let us know below.

New PS4 footage arrives out of PAX East.

During a hosted panel at PAX East, the lead game designers for Final Fantasy XV, Wan Hazmer and Prasert Prasertvithyakarn, showed off some brand new footage of the highly anticipated game. It should go without saying that the footage may contain some spoilers for those of you who want to experience the game first hand by way of the demo.

The footage, which was taken from the PS4 build of the game, shows us the combat tutorial that you can expect to see in the Episode Duscae demo, in which Noctis is shown the ropes. A new area was revealed in another video that was shown as well, the Wiz Chocobo Post now houses a number of the large feathery mounts, whereas a third video was dedicated to the showcasing of Noctis’ team members.

Don’t forget that Final Fantasy Type-0 HD launches on March 17th and that it’s your ticket into the FFXV Demo. Final Fantasy 15 does not have a release date but it seems likely it will hit the PS4 and Xbox One in 2016.
