The third season of the fighting game will follow a monthly release cadence for its characters, with surprises set for October and December.

Following up on the “The Saga Continues” animated trailer from earlier this week, SNK Corporation has now revealed more details about its content plans for Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves, and in the process, has announced its third season. The trailer, which you can check out below, confirms that Season 3 will bring six new characters to the fighting game, including Rick Strowd, Duck King, Kim Kaphwan, and Laocorn Gaudeamus.

The trailer also reveals the release schedule for these characters. Rick Strowd will be out later this month (on July 23rd), followed by Duck King in August. September will see the release of Kim Kaphwan, and November will feature Laocorn Gaudeamus. Interestingly, two of the slots in the monthly release schedules have been left as mysteries – October and December. More details about these two secret characters will likely be revealed over the coming months.

The new trailer is also a treat for long-time fans of the Fatal Fury franchise, since each one of the characters was introduced alongside a collage of their 2D sprites from older fighting games, showcasing how their visual styles have evolved over the years.

Alongside revealing Season 3 details, SNK has also announced a new Revenge Edition release of Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves. Priced at $49.99, it will include all three season passes for the fighting game, with characters like Joe Higashi, Kenshiro, and Duck King all being available.

SNK has also announced a major change to its DLC characters. Roster additions that were previously exclusive to their respective Season Passes are now available for individual purchase. This means that if you’re a Fist of the North Star fan, you won’t have to buy the entirety of the Season 2 pass to get access to Kenshiro, for example.

The overarching theme of Season 3 has been dubbed “Destined for Revenge”, replacing Season 2’s “Legends Unleashed”. Keeping in line with this, all of the characters in Season 3 will have stories revolving around their quest for revenge leading them to the mean streets of South Town.

The stories of all of these characters will likely get expanded through the single-player modes available in Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves, like Arcade mode and Episodes of South Town. Since all of these are returning members of the Fatal Fury roster, we will also likely get to see some fun interactions between them and the other characters, including guests like Chun-Li and Kenshiro.

Duck King, Kim Kaphwan, Rick Strowd, and Laocorn Gaudeamus were previously teased in the animated “The Saga Continues” trailer, which showed off how these characters were getting ready to join the roster. Along with this, the animated short also celebrated the game’s Season 2 characters, like Fist of the North Star protagonist Kenshiro.

Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves is available on PC, PS4, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S. For more on how the fighting game evolved since its release in April last year, check out our review from back when it first came out, where we gave it a score of 7 out of 10 thanks to meaningful gameplay depth with the REV System, among other things.

The trailer celebrated the release of other Season 2 DLC characters, like Kenshiro, while also teasing potential new roster additions.

Developer SNK Corporation has released a new animated trailer for Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves. Titled “The Saga Continues”, the trailer, which you can check out below, teases future DLC releases for the fighting game. Along with this, the trailer also sets up some of the moments that will likely play a big role in the stories of upcoming characters.

Among the roster additions teased in the trailer are Duck King, Kim Kaphwan, Rick Strowd, and Laocorn Gaudeamus. SNK hasn’t yet made any official announcements regarding these characters coming to Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves. However, Rick Strowd and Laocorn Gaudeamus were previously teased as potential DLC characters.

As a whole, the trailer acts as a celebration of the DLC that has been released for Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves as part of its Season 2 pass, and even includes Fist of the North Star protagonist Kenshiro, who joined the fighting game’s roster just last month. Since it’s an animated trailer that doesn’t include any in-game footage, however, we don’t quite get to see how the new characters will play.

It is worth keeping in mind that the Season 2 pass of Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves has only gotten six characters so far, with six more planned for release in the coming months. Along with Kenshiro, the season pass has included Mr. Karate, Kim Jae Hoon, Nightmare Geese, Blue Mary, and Wolfgang Krauser.

Leading up to Kenshiro’s arrival in Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves, SNK had released a trailer providing an in-depth look at the character’s moveset. Kenshiro largely focuses on close-range fighting thanks to his abilities that make use of his pressure-point-based Hokuto Shinken martial art. Through his moves, Kenshiro can cause internal damage to his opponents by attacking internal pressure points throughout their bodies.

The Fatal Fury version of Kenshiro has been described as “highly technical”, with many of his moves flowing into each other and opening enemies up to more avenues of attack in different ways. The character also has combo options that help confuse opponents and status changes to apply even more pressure.

The character is voiced by Clayton Alexander in English and Shunsuke Takeuchi in Japanese, and has an entire story dedicated to him in his Arcade Mode playthrough. The story revolves around Kenshiro trying to figure out how he ended up in the world of Fatal Fury to begin with, and deciding to help the weak people of South City who have been suffering at the hands of tyrants. To do this, he decides to join the King of Fighters tournament so that he can confront Wolfgang Krauser face-to-face.

Kenshiro also has story content in the Episodes of South Town story mode, where he can meet, befriend, and hang out with popular characters from the Fatal Fury franchise, like Terry and Mai. There is also a new plot here that revolves around a strange miasma that has been spreading throughout South City.

Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves is available on PC, PS4, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S. For more details, check out our review of its launch version.

Kenshiro's english voice acting will be handled by Clayton Alexander, and his Japanese voice will be done by Shunsuke Takeuchi.

SNK Corporation has released a brand-new trailer to prepare for the arrival of Fist of the North Star protagonist Kenshiro into the Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves roster. Kenshiro will be arriving this month, and the trailer, which you can check out below, gives us a better look at his various abilities in the game. The trailer has also confirmed that Kenshiro will be playable in Episodes of South Town, complete with the ability to get level up by getting into various fights.

As you might expect, Kenshiro is largely equipped with close-range abilities based on his pressure-point-focused martial art – the Hokuto Shinken. The martial art focuses on causing internal damage to Kenshiro’s targets by targeting specific hidden pressure points throughout their body, destroying it from the inside. SNK has described his in-game combat style as being “highly technical”, since quite a few of his moves will revolve around status changes and combo options that leave the opponent guessing.

Kenshiro in Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves is being voiced by Clayton Alexander in English, and Shunsuke Takeuchi in Japanese. His arcade mode story revolves around Kenshiro trying to figure out why he is in the strange world of Fatal Fury. However, the answers to these questions will have to wait, since Kenshiro has to ensure that the weak stop suffering at the hands of tyrants in South City. To do this, he has decided to enter the new King of Fighters tournament in the hopes of confronting Wolfgang Krauser.

In Episodes of South Town, Kenshiro will be able to meet popular Fatal Fury characters like Terry and Mai, among others. The story here largely revolves around a strange miasma spreading across the city.

Kenshiro is available as part of the Season 2 pass of Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves, available for $19.99.

The character was first announced as making his way to Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves all the way back in Japan. At the time, the trailer didn’t really give us any indication of his gameplay. Rather, it focused on setting the tone and involved Kenshiro showing up just in the nick of time in a city ravaged by dust and pollution before a young girl and a child are about to get assaulted by some thugs in an alley.

His June release window was announced back in March with a new trailer that, while still avoiding any gameplay reveals for Kenshiro, at least gave us our first look at his in-game design.

Kenshiro will be the sixth character coming to Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves as part of its Season 2 pass. SNK has confirmed that it has plans to release six more characters in the coming months before wrapping the game’s second season up. The last character added to the roster was Mr. Karate, who arrived back in May. Season 2 has also brought in Kim Jae Hoon, Nightmare Geese, Blue Mary, and Wolfgang Krauser.

Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves is available on PC, PS4, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S. For more details, check out our review from back when it first came out.

The legend of a fighter long gone, with the skills of one who’s pretty darn proficient makes for one hell of a DLC character, we must say.

We’ve been pretty excited about this one ever since we first told you about it. Mr Karate is pretty close to making his debut in Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves. About two days away, on May 27th, for Season 2 Pass holders.

He takes the stage quite close after the major update in celebration of the game’s first anniversary, but could be seen as an extension of the festivities. Mr Karate brings a very potent fighting style to the table, as he’s said to have mastered his unique Kyokugen style of karate. Of course, that’s not all that’s being said about him, as his tengu mask ties him to the legend of a capable fighter who once caused some sort of disruption to South Town’s rhythm. However long it’s been since, they caused enough of a ripple that Mr Karate has some big shoes to fill.

Fortunately, he’s up to the task, with the brutal use of his fists and feet to keep his opponents off balance and unable to fight back. We’re particularly interested in using those flurries to juggle opponents, and his punches look like they have a lot of launch potential to extend combos nigh-endlessly. As always, Mr Karate gets his own trailer – check it out below to see why he’s so darn cool.

Former Tekken Producer Katsuhiro Harada Forms VS Studio With SNK

The studio will receive "long-term, continuous support" from SNK while remaining independent and "focused on creativity."

In one of the more surprising twists in modern gaming, Katsuhiro Harada, who left Bandai Namco last year, has formed VS Studio with investment from SNK. Best known for the Tekken series, where he served as a producer and dictated the direction for decades, Harada said in a new video that the name “VS” has several meanings.

“It traces back to our roots in a video game software development team, and represents ideas such as Visionary Standard, Volition Shift, and Vanguard Spirit. The philosophy embedded in the name VS defines who we are as a studio. Beyond tradition, crafted to perfection. That is what we strive for.”

While VS Studio receives “long-term, continuous support” from SNK, Harada says it’s independent and allows them to stay “focused on creativity.” He also believes that it’s “one answer” to the question about how he wants to spend whatever time he has left as a game developer.

SNK’s Yasuyuki Oda, who worked as a producer on Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves, stated in a press release, “I am extremely proud to welcome Mr Katsuhiro Harada, who has been a long-time friend and a worthy rival to us, into our group. We’ve long discussed the hypothetical scenario of working together, and now that dream has become a reality. To be honest, nothing has been decided yet, but I have no doubt that things will become even more exciting than ever before. We look forward to your continued support for SNK and VS Studio.”

For now, VS Studio is searching for new team members “who share our vision,” and hasn’t announced what it will be working on. Based on the name and Harada’s experience, you would have to assume it’s a fighting game. Besides, the potential for tie-ins and collaborations with SNK’s own stable of fighting games, from Fatal Fury to Samurai Shodown and The King of Fighters, is too good to pass up.

Regardless, with Tekken 8 falling out of favor with genre fans since launch due to balancing changes, excessive monetization, and more, it would seem that Bandai Namco’s loss is SNK’s gain. Time will tell, though, so stay tuned for more updates.

The character was unveiled with a new teaser trailer that, while not showing off any gameplay, gives us a look at Mr. Karate's design.

SNK has announced that Mr. Karate will be the fifth DLC character joining Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves as part of its second season. The character will be coming to the game later this month. The studio has released a short teaser trailer showcasing the upcoming character’s Tengu mask-involving design, which you can check out below.

With this announcement, SNK has unveiled only six of the characters from Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves‘ Season 2. The season kicked off with Kim Jae Hoon, and the studio followed up with the release of Nightmare Geese, Blue Mary, and Wolfgang Krauser. With Mr. Karate slated for release in May, the final character unveiled so far will be Fist of the North Star protagonist Kenshiro in June. Six more characters will likely be unveiled at a later date and will be released over the remainder of the year.

Mr. Karate first made his debut in 1992’s Art of Fighting. The studio has described the character as having “strength and skill beyond compare.” Unfortunately, no other details about Mr. Karate have been revealed for now.

Wolfgang Krauser was added to Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves in April and was accompanied by a free update that brought in a host of new features to the game. Among these is a main story mode, dubbed Wolves’ Destiny, which has also been described as being the first of its kind in Fatal Fury history. The story revolves around a battle between Emperor Krauser and Kain, the Emperor of Second South. SNK has said that it features more than 15,000 words in its script, along with full voice acting in English and Japanese.

Krauser first made his Fatal Fury back in Fatal Fury 2, where he served as the primary antagonist. The story for the 1992 fighting game ended with Terry Bogard killing Krauser. However, he has clearly recovered and rejoined the roster in Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves with revenge on his mind. His moveset revolves around the use of quick jabs, slams, overhead attacks, and plenty of aerial options.

Interestingly, despite being the sixth character for Season 2 of Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves, Kenshiro was officially unveiled back in March. The character’s moveset will likely revolve around his Hokuto Shinken martial art, which focuses on using the pressure points of his opponents to beat them down in strange and violent ways. Check out the animated short video teasing Kenshiro’s arrival into the Fatal Fury universe from all the way back in January.

Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves is available on PC, PS4, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S. The title was released in April 2025, and in our review at the time, we praised its character models, background art, and gameplay depth offered by the REV system. However, we noted that the lack of enemy variety in Episodes of South Town, as well as underwhelming presentation and awkward UI, were some of the rougher parts of the fighting game.

The update will bring in a host of content, including Wolfgang Krauser, and a brand new story mode dubbed a "first" for the series.

SNK has revealed its plans to celebrate the first anniversary of its fighting game, Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves. A major update for the title is slated to come out on April 24th, coinciding with the release of the newest addition to its roster—Wolfgang Krauser. Along with this, the studio has also released three videos, which you can check out below.

The video features glimpses at the competitive community surrounding Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves, as well as messages of thanks by its various developers. Paired with these messages are scenes from tournaments and gameplay footage of players competing against each other.

As for the update, along with Wolfgang Krauser, it will also bring in a main story mode, dubbed Wolves’ Destiny. Described as the first of its kind in the history of the Fatal Fury franchise, it will revolve around a battle between a returning Emperor Krauser and the Emperor of Second South, Kain. The story is slated to feature more than 15,000 words, and will include full voice acting in English and Japanese, and will be told through the use of almost 150 new, original illustrations.

Kain is also getting a new costume to commemorate the Wolves’ Destiny mode. On the gameplay side of things, Ring Out Battle modes will mark their return, and multiplayer-focused players can hop into the Fighters’ Hub for all their online matchmaking needs. Players using Smart Style will also find that they can start using heavy special moves.

The series of announcements comes to an end with SNK revealing that the Standard Edition of Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves is now priced at $19.99, and will include all base game characters and game modes. A Legends Edition is also available for $49.99, and will include all of the content from Season Pass 1 and 2.

Wolfgang Krauser was announced for Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves earlier this month. The character made his first appearance all the way back in Fatal Fury 2, where he was the primary antagonist. While though to have been killed by Terry Bogard, Krauser is now returning with revenge on his mind. The moveset of his latest incarnation will revolve around quick jabs, slams, overhead options, and aerial attacks. Krauser is only one of the characters part of the fighting game’s Season Pass 2.

Last month saw the confirmation that the protagonist of the classic manga Fist of the North Star, Kenshiro, will also be joining the roster of Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves. The character is slated to come out in June. For more details, take a look at the trailer showcasing his capabilities.

Generally speaking, Season Pass 2 is slated to bring 12 characters to Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves. Along with upcoming characters like Krauser and Kenshiro, the game has already gotten Kim Jae Hoon in January, Nightmare Geese in February, and Blue Mary last month.

Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves is available on PC, PS4, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.

This is one special agent you don't want to mess with, but if you do, her moves are going to need some masterful defense on your part.

Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves just dropped a new character trailer for Blue Mary, a femme fatale whose law enforcement background gives her quite an impressive moveset in the arena.

Blue Mary comes at you with a whirlwind of attacks, getting up close and personal to dish out a constant barrage of attacks that include grabs, slams, mix-up combos, and some devastating aerial combos to make her a nightmare to those among you who don’t put too much emphasis on defensive play. She’s brought to life by Allegra Clark, who you might remember as the voice of Josephine from Dragon Age: Inquisition, or as Maki Zen’in from Jujitsu Kaisen.

Blue Mary is the latest addition to the game’s DLC roster as part of the Season 2 Pass, following Nightmare Geese’s explosive debut last month. With three more characters and a whole lot more slated for the game in the next few months, now’s a good time as any to join in on a fighting game that had us pretty happy with its visuals, although there was room for improvement. There’s also a new collab track to check out once Blue Mary drops on March 26, 2026. Give it a lesson in the trailer below.

While Rock and Peecha get some brand new threads alongside more collab content, Nightmare Geese arrives in grand fashion.

We just got treated to a couple of exciting, new, and action-packed trailers for new additions to Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves, and we’re itching to brush up on our skills and give it a shot when it launches on February 26th.

Let’s start with Nightmare Geese, a legend who may not be among the living, but doesn’t let that stop him from doling out punches, kicks, and energy beams that show off his immense strength and implacable presence on the battlefield. His truly impressive debut marks the second addition to a list of DLC characters being added to the game, with four more yet to come every month until June 2026 as a part of the game’s Season Pass 2.

Additionally, the collaboration with Street Fighter continues to bear fruit. There are new costumes for Rock and Preecha to up their style game alongside a new EOST mission in which the game’s characters must team up with some of Street Fighter’s best to rescue Terry from the villainous JP. The job’s made easier by the addition of new crossover skills, while Kage Terry is going to be a new boss fight. It’s a shame he isn’t playable, though.

Stay tuned for more details on Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves in the coming months and check out our review for the base game here.

Kim Jae Hoon arrives on January 22nd followed by Nightmare Geese in February, Blue Mary in March and Wolfgang Krauser in April.

Update: SNK has released the official trailer for Season 2. Check it out below.

Original Story:

After winning Best Fighting Game at The Game Awards, SNK’s Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves is back with a vengeance. Season 2 kicks off this month, and as reported by now-pulled Game*Spark article (thanks, Resetera), it will seemingly include 12 new characters. Kim Jae Hoon is the first, releasing on January 22nd.

Nightmare Geese is next in February, followed by Blue Mary in March and Wolfgang Krauser in April. May and June each offer a mystery character which has yet to be announced.

As for the reasoning behind releasing one character per month, senior manager of game design/producer Shinya Tamaki said, “This is because this is the first new game in 26 years, and after launch, we received a lot of feedback saying, ‘I want to see this character soon.’ Initially, we had planned to add one character every two months, but by strengthening our development system, we were able to achieve a pace of one character per month. We would like to continue this situation for as long as possible.”

While SNK could fall behind or push back the release of some fighters, the current plan is to deliver no fewer than 12 characters in 2026. It’s a pretty insane proposition and opens the doors for all kinds of fighters to join the roster. Interestingly, there was a tease of Kenshiro from Fist of the North Star recently, but if he’s part of the Season 2 Pass, it doesn’t seem like he’ll be joining anytime soon.

Then again, he may be a free character (and certainly wouldn’t be the game’s first). At this point, we’ll need more information, so stay tuned for an official press announcement from the developer soon.
