Update: SNK has released the official trailer for Season 2. Check it out below.

Original Story:

After winning Best Fighting Game at The Game Awards, SNK’s Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves is back with a vengeance. Season 2 kicks off this month, and as reported by now-pulled Game*Spark article (thanks, Resetera), it will seemingly include 12 new characters. Kim Jae Hoon is the first, releasing on January 22nd.

Nightmare Geese is next in February, followed by Blue Mary in March and Wolfgang Krauser in April. May and June each offer a mystery character which has yet to be announced.

As for the reasoning behind releasing one character per month, senior manager of game design/producer Shinya Tamaki said, “This is because this is the first new game in 26 years, and after launch, we received a lot of feedback saying, ‘I want to see this character soon.’ Initially, we had planned to add one character every two months, but by strengthening our development system, we were able to achieve a pace of one character per month. We would like to continue this situation for as long as possible.”

While SNK could fall behind or push back the release of some fighters, the current plan is to deliver no fewer than 12 characters in 2026. It’s a pretty insane proposition and opens the doors for all kinds of fighters to join the roster. Interestingly, there was a tease of Kenshiro from Fist of the North Star recently, but if he’s part of the Season 2 Pass, it doesn’t seem like he’ll be joining anytime soon.

Then again, he may be a free character (and certainly wouldn’t be the game’s first). At this point, we’ll need more information, so stay tuned for an official press announcement from the developer soon.
