Get some lowdown on what you can do in-between main missions as you build your criminal empire.

I think it’s fair to say that when Saints Row was revealed, it was not what many people expected. The game had a much different look than previous games, but the developer stood behind the game and now as more has come out, it seems this very much is the Saints Row that many will recognize. Now we also get some details on what it’s like to hustle on the side in the new entry.

Game Informer has been doing extensive coverage of the game, even giving a look at the game’s opening missions. They now have a feature about the game’s side hustles. Much like the name implies, this will be activities you do on the side to earn cash and other items. One of them is taking over territory where you must via with other gangs to control parts of the vast map. There is also Tourism, where you are given the task of seeking out certain locations and landmarks. Finally, there is Criminal Ventures that allow you to set up businesses that look legitimate to further your empire. That actually got a video, which you can see through here. You can read the excellent full write up from Game Informer through here.

Saints Row is set to release on February 25th 2022 for most major platforms.

Koch Media says next year is when we'll see the franchise.

As Grand Theft Auto took a more serious path with Grand Theft Auto IV, a reaction of sorts came in the form of Saints Row. The open world game took the zaniest aspects of the older GTA titles and turned them up to 11 with each entry getting crazier. The series has been dormant since 2015, however. But it’s ramping up to make its fabulous return in some form next year.

Koch Media (the parent company of the franchise publisher Deep Silver) CEO Klemens Kundratitz told GamesIndustry that more Saints Row is coming. They unfortunately offer no details, but it seems at the very least they’re rubbing their hands to unveil it, and that it will be closer to the traditional Saints Row and less so like the recent spin-off Agents of Mayhem.

“Saints Row is Saints Row. The two games are similar, for sure, but they’re also completely different. With Volition, we have the creators of all the Saints Row games as an internal studio and they’re not going to be distracted by anything else from creating our next game under this important franchise.

Saints Row is very close to our hearts, and we’ll talk about it next year. For the time being, we just wanted to get the word out that it’s coming and it’s going to be great.”

Earlier in the year we got word that a new Saints Row was in development from the series Creators and developers of most of the previous titles, Volition. What kind of form this will come in or what hardware it’ll target is up in the air. Either way, we’re probably in for something pretty wild.

Interesting weekend to tease something.

Well, it’s here. This weekend is the kick off to E3, the biggest video game convention out there. A lot has leaked – a lot – but there’s always surprises, always teasing. Could one of those surprises be a new Saints Row? If not, it sure seems like they’re using the opportunity to tease something.

On the series’ official Twitter, they posted a GIF proclaiming “Praise Genki” over and over, a strange character from the last two games. It highlights the weekend for super Saints Row fans. It may not seem like a lot, but when you consider what this weekend it is, clearly they want you to think something here. You can see it below.

The series has been somewhat absent since 2015’s Gat Out of Hell. There’s been a few re-releases, like the recent remaster of the third game on Nintendo Switch, but we haven’t seen a new entry in a while. Is it time for a fifth? We’ll just have to wait and see.

The publisher wants us to keep an eye on their official YouTube.

Saints Row has been pretty dormant since 2015’s Saints Row: Gat out of Hell. Barring the recent port of the third game to the Nintendo Switch last week, we’ve not seen anything new from the franchise since then. It’s very possible that may be changing soon, because it seems like publisher Deep Silver might be teasing something with the game’s official YouTube channel.

Seemingly out of nowhere, publisher Deep Silver tweeted out to make sure you keep an eye on the Saints Row YouTube channel, saying they have exciting news coming up. It doesn’t say a lot, obviously, but the fact they chose to highlight the official YouTube channel with teases of exciting news definitely makes it seem like something is coming. Whether that will be more ports, a new game, or something else entirely is anyone’s guess. We’ll keep you updated.

The latest release for the franchise, Saints Row: The Third – The Full Package, is available now on the Nintendo Switch. You can see the tweet and a link to the official YouTube page below.

It’s been a long way to a Nintendo system, and an even longer way down.

The Saints Row franchise is finally coming to a Nintendo system this month with Saints Row The Third: The Full Package. The franchise takes the old school, tongue in cheek satire of older Grand Theft Auto games and turns it up to 11, and will hit the Switch later this month. We got a trailer earlier for the title, giving us an idea of what the game will look like on the Nintendo platform. A second one, titled “Memorable Moments – Free Falling,” released recently as well.

As the name implies, the trailer highlights a section of the game where your character is kidnapped on a plane, breaks free, and then makes a wild escape that includes free falling down to Earth. It shows off some of the combat, particularly shootouts you can have while plummeting to your potential death, and gives you an idea of the hammy tone and dialogue the games have become known for.

Saints Row The Third: The Full Package comes to the Switch May 10th and includes the original title and all the DLC released.

"If we were stylistically similar to the first Saints Row, I'd be horrified right now."

Grand Theft Auto V is undeniably one of, if not the year’s most anticipated games. The game has been in the incubator for several years, and is Rockstar’s most ambitious project yet. The game was originally slated to release early this year, but was pushed back to 17th September. Which just so happens to be a few weeks away from the release of the other open world sandbox game which is Saints Row IV.

The Saints Row has always shared much in common with the GTA series, although the third installment went in favor of delivering an outlandish over the top experience instead of a more realistic tone as seen in GTA. C However, developer Volition is not concerned about the hurdles faced when releasing so close to GTA V, and says that both games feature different styles even though they belong to the same genre, enough to avoid head on head comparison.

“Yeah, it’s a big one, and we talk about it a lot,” said producer Jim Boone in a statement to Eurogamer.

“Obviously when they announced their date and it was so close to us – that was an interesting phenomenon. But honestly, the way that we tend to look at it is that here’s this huge game that’s coming out at the same time and it’s going to sell a tonne. We know that, and it’s unfortunate from that standpoint.

“But the thing we feel good about in general is that we’re such a different game to what they are. If we were stylistically similar to the first Saints Row, I’d be horrified right now. Saints Row the Third came out the same time as Assassin’s Creed, but the games are so different in terms of what they do.

“The genre’s matured enough where you can have all these different styles and still be an open world game and be different. So I look at GTA 5 and think there’s this massive game coming out, but I don’t think with our superpowers and alien invasions that no-one will be comparing us to them.”

We agree, as Saints Row (well, at least the new installments) and GTA are completely different beast and one shouldn’t detract you from picking up the other if you’re a fan of the genre. We recently posted an article to cement the notion and also saying why comparisons between the two are pointless. Check it out here.

Saints Row IV will be arriving on August 20th in North America, and on the 23rd elsewhere.
